The Moonshiner's Leghorns

Were they all shipped from the same place?
Yes
Some hatched absolutely fine, I got 6 exchequer fine healthy chicks.
1 popped its own yolk sack and blood vessels and died.
Quite a few pips but then died
So 6 chicks from 18 eggs

Of the 6 cuckoo coloured eggs I got 2 that hatched but were both deformed badly.
0 chicks from 6 eggs

Now do you see what I see.......?

🤔

My father-in-law calls that "something else in the woodpile." Except his version is not very nice. Fence jumper or an impure bird in the breeding group? Or maybe a hen they didn't clean out from a previous rooster long enough?

I'm sorry to hear about your cuckoo chicks being badly deformed. Shipping really scrambles the eggs up. I keep saying "no more," but I end up doing it again. It is truly a gamble for real. I hope the 5 out of 6 excherquers are decent quality. Minus the little imposter chick in the bunch that is likely a Heinz 57... or who knows what.

It's ok its always a gamble.
I knew the hatch wasn't going to be as good as I get from my birds..... but I didn't expect feathered legs!
