The Moonshiner's Leghorns

I sold 26 birds today! YAY! I down to my winter flock. I’m so happy for this day. 🥳
Dang that's sweet. Were they to your chicken guy? Or?
If not how do you advertise? That farm paper thing? Word of mouth? Down by the overpass with a will sell chickens for food sign?

Do any of you guys brood in unheated buildings?
Yes. This year they spent a week in my room then a week in the mudroom. No heat or AC there but ya insulated and draft free. When it's warm or hot I leave the door to outside open.
Week 3 on they do to the chick house for a while. It's not heated, insulated or draft free.

So didn't work extremely late and no rain UNTIL I left and got 2 minutes down the road. Just misting very light sprinkles. I didn't want to miss out so I zoomed to town hoping it'd stop. Just about did by the time I got there so decided to check radar on my phone. Ya right those d@mn things don't load when I need them to.
Oh well I'll just drive like hell if need be It's back roads. Made the executive decision to buy 2 pairs of jeans for work. They have an inexpensive brand that I get and they were 20% off then I'd still get the 25% off for the deal.
That left me getting 16 bags of 40lb feed. Didnt seem to really be raining then. Got home and hurried them into the chick house. Bags almost felt damp but feed was dry. SUCCESS

Feather dusters and bug removal in one! Do any of you guys brood in unheated buildings? It’s draft free and insulated. When they get feathered I have another coop for them that has more ventilation. This one has a window I can open too if it’s going to be warm.
I brood in the house for a week or two then out to the garage till they are fully feathered. Once fully feathered they go out with the Phoenix and OEGB flock.

Garage is insulated no ac. The flock is covered by a tarp and blocked in the back on one side at the bottom.

Wanted to get a couple of those rubber bowls but decided against it. I'll get a couple at some point but feed was the smarter choice.
Saw the 7lb feeders I use. They were hella cheap but I still think I have enough. But OMG they had glow in the dark ones. I almost broke down and grabbed a couple.
Idk how many times I've woken up in the middle of the night and thought to myself man I want to go down run around in the chickens. Then I always tell myself I'd do it but I'd surely end up tripping over them feeders. If there was just some way I could see them in the dark oh the fun I could have.

Glow in the dark feeders? I've never seen those.

Ok, I've more then likely passed by them. I prefer the bucket ones instead. Those other feeders and waterers don't seem to hold up very well in the summer sun and heat over here. The waterers like that are fast to grow algea.
I just use them for chicks after theyre a week or two old. Mine rarely see direct sunlight.
