The Moonshiner's Leghorns

She looks to have been born rumpless, meaning minus the tail. We get those in my Legbars from time to time, I assumed because of the Araucana blood in them. If that is so, she will never grow in a tail.
I doubt she's rumpless. I've got pullets without tails that come back. Whatever happens with mine I'd suspect happened to that one.

At least no fog here. We'll see about tomorrow but I've heard nothing about it here.
Still though what's with this 2 days of crappy weather we're all getting.
It came from the west coast north of me and pushed it's way east. It's warm here though.

A shotgun works too. When we can't catch a rooster that is making a nuisance of himself, shotgun it is.
I mean I usually have plenty of males but still....
That's too funny

It would be easy to tell. @BlueBaby if you check her over and she doesn't have a "Parson's Nose" she is rumpless. The little "knob" that the tail feathers grow out of.

If she is being feather picked and that is causing the lack of tail, there would be evidence of that if you look closely at the skin around the tail.

I'll take a closer look on it tomorrow.

Well, I'll have to see if it grows back for her or not.
If you look her over and notice evidence of feather picking around the tail, separate her until the tail grows back in. If there is no evidence of feather picking, likely she is rumpless. I have had both situations happen (feather picking is more common) and you can usually tell one cause from the other pretty easily.

Evidence of feather picking would be newly growing in blood feathers that have dried blood or fresh blood on the tips, or scabbing, wounds, fresh blood around the tail area. If there is none of that, it highly suggests she is rumpless.

Oh, I might have an example of that nose thingy....
