Hope your day was good too! My day was fabulous. I'm going to tell you all something but I would not dare tell many people....

We just took our Christmas tree down TODAY! I have been in the thick of studying so I haven't had time. And no one else bothered, so I didn't either. It is shameful, I know. lol

This is how many cares I gave...

I just put the next group of eggs in lockdown and I am gravely disappointed in the Silver x Brown eggs and the Red x Buff pullet's eggs. Every single egg we set from those two pens is infertile. From two different settings of eggs that are currently in the incubator. Hubby thinks it is because the pullets are young and not letting the roosters breed them. And the Silver rooster is still afraid of the Brown pullets, so yeah. No chicks from them probably until spring.

Well, newly-minted NP @KF0002, maybe I can be your first unofficial patient. No biggie. I seem to have a blocked tear duct and my left eye has been draining like there's no tomorrow. It's starting to itch and burn a bit, probably from my ever-so-gentle but constant dabbing at it with a tissue. I've also been massaging the tear duct with a cotton ball to try to open it up. Do you recommend a warm compress?

Not so cozy here. I have an older home that isn't efficient for theses temps. Heat doesn't keep up. Bedrooms have space heaters so have to hibernate there. Wearing a jacket in the rest of the house. Water lines are in crawlspace so they can freeze. No water as of last night.
Bathroom is a long ways from main inline so that's first to freeze. Trying to finish a second bathroom in mudroom. It's off the kitchen so a lot closer. Seriously gonna cut a couple holes in kitchen floor and run new lines with heat tape to mudroom then add space heater there to.
Moving hot water heater there too. Vision is eventually a straight shot of heat tape pipes to it with full bathroom, utility sink, washer/dryer, hot water heater and a hose spigot.
Always a project or 10.

Friday was bad but I didn't work that day. Yesterday was really bad. Truck was slow to crank but started and ran. 15 minutes of warming up and it still wasn't at normal running temp.
Ran fine and I made it in without issue. Thank you truck. Roads weren't too bad but with 2WD I watched the road out front like a hawk all day.
Steady snow all day but wasn't piling up too quick and saw people out and about. Of course it really started coming down a hour or so before leaving.
Roads were slick so I took gravel were I could. Seem to get better traction on gravel even if they hadn't been touched or driven on much. Also like that I can use the whole road with no traffic around.
Snow was supposed to continue overnight and more extreme cold. Waiting for sunrise to see what this morning brings. Get through today and I'll have tomorrow off.

I rescheduled my exam for today so I didn't have to postpone it for another week. My nerves could not have handled that. I was barely sleeping and driving myself crazy with worry. The prayers did their thing for sure because I PASSED!!!!

I am officially a Nurse Practitioner!

have I mentioned I HATE winter?

Right there with you. We’re having a brake issue with our truck and it’s going to the shop next week, and that’s our only 4WD vehicle. We live on a narrow backroad that won’t get plowed or salted, so we’re here for the duration. The real cold (cold for these parts) doesn’t move in until tomorrow, but the snow turned to sleet and we could hear limbs crashing down through the night. We’ve laid in firewood and water and are bracing for the inevitable power outage.
