The Moonshiner's Leghorns

My husband just came in from chipping ice out of the grate over the HVAC. We were talking about building a little roof over it before the next storm. What does the emergency heat setting do?
It somehow runs off the furnace alone I think, I'm not 100% sure but it has worked so far. I am not very HVAC savvy, which is unfortunate because that is a very lucrative trade. lol

That tailess silver leghorn just gave me my first egg today at 12:12 pm. I was out there when she did it. She had been squacking funny and walking back and forth prior to that.

Woohoo! Such a pretty little egg! Congratulations!!

Warm compresses and massage may help, but you probably need to be seen by your PCP or ophthalmologist. If it is draining, especially if the drainage is purulent (green/yellow, crusting), you will likely need an antibiotic. If there is infection, you don't want it spreading, especially to the globe of your eye. If you start experiencing pain with eye movements or swelling of your eye lid or the tissue around your eye, get in to see your PCP quickly, or go to urgent care. Praying your eye feels better soon! 🙏
Thank you! I did put a warm compress on it and it has helped some. Thanks for the warning. So far the drainage is clear.

Definitely do the warm compresses and massage until you can see your PCP. It isn't going to hurt, and may relieve the obstruction that is clogging the duct.
Thank you as well! The draining has not stopped, but has definitely slowed.

Glad you have tomorrow off! Hopefully your commute to work and back goes well and you get home safely!
It was a slow commute but I made it.
My truck either wouldn't have or it would of been scary AF.
Borrowed a Jeep. That was nice and so happy to not been stressed all the way. Took it at 30 mph the whole way just to be extra safe since it wasn't my vehicle. Doubled my drive time just about but worth it.
No work tomorrow and school has already been canceled. Woo-hoo, holing up for the day.

Snow has stoppes and radar shows no more so looks like we, er, weathred the storm just fine. Whether DH can get out to get to work tomorrow is yet to be seen. He might, since the cattle people have been in and out a couple of times with loads of hay for the cows.

I read it shuts down the outside HVAC and uses the auxiliary system, which I’m not even sure we have. And much less energy efficient so just for emergencies. We’ve decided we’re going to get something like a piece of plexiglass and put brick supports under it and more on top to hold it in place to use as a temporary rain cover during ice/snow storms.
