The Moonshiner's Leghorns

Ya I hatched way heavily towards males with the buffs last year. I'd guesstimate only 10 or 12 females out there and more males then that.
I think instead of keeping just a couple males I'll set up trios or pairs. Use more males to maybe keep genetics from getting bottle necked as much.
That should help you with your Buffs I would think.or you might have to bring in more genetics for them.

We've been eating fritattas, egg salad, omelets. And I take what we don't need to church. There's folks there that can use them. No point trying to sell eggs around here, I've found, seems everybody and their uncle has chickens.

:lau we'll see 🙄
Na, when I've fed eggs to animals it's been ones too dirty to hatch or eat myself.
I've always got girls penned together without boys that I'm not using for breeding at any given time. Those are the eggs I eat or give away. It's not worth the effort to sell white eggs here. People want "farm fresh" and too many think that means brown eggs.
Even giving them away is time and effort that I think would be more wisely spent cutting feed costs at this time.
One person at work my husband sold to said he wanted to be sure they were brown farm eggs. Well some are medium brown, but some are dark brown, some cream colored, some white, some blue, some green. All taste exactly the same.

Same around here. We offered to give some eggs to the guy who fixed our truck and he told us he had 60 chickens.

We feed our dogs raw eggs. One or two per dog per day. But they love them boiled also. You definitely need to boil a bunch and feed them to your dogs and birds for sure.
I put raw eggs on both the dogs’ and the cats’ food. I also sometimes stir some in to the chickens’ wet mash. My son feeds some to their pig.

Surely somebody around you has chickens.
Yeah I think there’s somebody up the street but I’d have to get a ride or walk far. I think I’ll ask for a ride once I am not sick anymore. But I miss having my own and raising the chickens and everything too.
