I have a question. So before, we've always gotten chicks in batches of 3s. I don't know why, but that's our history. With 3, we've always cuddled, held, and played with them. Now, we have friendly chickens that we hold and cuddle as adults.
Fast forward to today. We have 9 chicks that we hatched ourselves (they were born just over 2 weeks old, prime cuddle time). We try to hold and cuddle them, but these little buggers are feral. They are held multiple times daily, but they simply squawk and scream the entire time. Even sticking our hand in the brooder sends them into a frantic panic. They even freak out if we talk too close to the brooder.
Is this odd, unfriendly behavior because we have more of them? We love our friendly chickens, and I'm concerned about having some out in the coop that are afraid of us.
