THE MOTHER'S DAY HATCH-A-LONG!!!! The last day to join in and set eggs with us is April 28th.

X's and O's are hugs and kisses... right?

I have the Reptipro 5000.. I LOVE mine and wish I had about 4 more!
Ohhhh..now that's the kind of feed back I like to hear about these...this one will come with two turners. I am pretty excited. I hear it holds the temp spot on. How about the humidity? I've heard that some folks put a small jar in there, like a baby food jar.?

it does keep perfect temp.. BUT measure the temp at shelf level.. don't go by the display sinc ethe temp will vary a bit depending on which shelf you're using.

for things like the Cinco de Mayo turkey hatch we just did I incubated the turkey and chicken eggs on the top shelf.. then at "lockdown" I dropped them down a shelf.. that gave me a perfect 99.5 on the top shelf and 98.5 on the shelf I locked them down on..
for humidity I went dry with the incubation since it' has been pretty humid here .. so it kept them at 30 to 35%.. when I went to raise it for lockdown I just added one of those plastic sandwich boxes of water .. it raised the humidity nice and high... I opened the door off and on all day during "lockdown" since I still had other eggs in there that I was incubating as well as removing chicks and poults.. it regained the humidity FAST.. I have never had a sticky chick or one that has needed assistance in the Reptipro.. so no dead in shell chicks either.

I am pretty jealous of those with Reptipros... If only I could justify a third incubator! Maybe next year.

Oh man, I am am really excited to get this thing. I will be putting eggs in that have been in my other bators for a while, so, probably won't be able to go by how it hatches the first time. I don't go real high with my humidity as it is even with these styrofoam bators. I stay in the high 30's to low 40's..then up to 65 66 during lock down. No more sticky babies? No more dead in the shell? That says a lot about these foam bators.

How time flies!! I can't believe lock down is in 4 days. (Although, it might have gone quick for me because all I did was work. So much overtime..@_@)

uhm... is this better?

found him a few minutes ago.. as of 4:30 this morning (when my husband got up for work) he had only knocked off one of the loose pieces of shell... he's still pretty wobbly .. so he's probably been out for about 45 minutes now
Trying to catch up. Busy weekend and I just finished the Cinco de Mayo posts. I was 222 behind and only 146 here, but had to say.................

awwwwwww I want land!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've wanted Emu for over 25 years and darn it I'm going to have some eventually!

lockdown in 4 days!! Wow

time has never flown this fast for me. Usually it feels like 3 months before they hatch. Maybe it's because I haven't been paying much attention to the Mothers Day Eggs......

.All week I've been stressing over the 5 de Mayo eggs in lockdown, and all weekend Ive been setting up the brooder and pulling out chicks. The last one just hatched, so I washed the bator and put it away.
Now that that's done, it's time to worry and stress about a different hatch
