THE MOTHER'S DAY HATCH-A-LONG!!!! The last day to join in and set eggs with us is April 28th.

Here's my broody sizzle right after she hatched her EE's. They are about 3-4 weeks old now and almost as big as her, but she's done a great job with them. I have a broody turkey hen too, but her eggs aren't fertile and I'm too scared of her to get close enough to give her different eggs.
I set 5 sizzle eggs for the hatch on Saturday, but have call duck eggs in there in lockdown so no pic yet.

Just candled my turkeys yesterday. All 10 are developing!

My new turner is a lifesaver, but it's making the thermometer an awkard endevor. I'm trying to adjust, but I'm hoping it doesn't affect the hatch that I can't keep the temps under strict control for a day or two. Oh well, time will tell.

Yes, they are moving on their own. I couldn't believe it! They were not shipped, I picked them up from someone local. They sat on my counter for two days before setting them. We had pretty warm days (in the 80's) but I was very surprised to see development after only 9 hours in the incubator.

I bought the eggs for my last hatch from the same person and 13 out of 16 hatched. Three were fully developed, two never pipped and were dead and one pipped but then died.

In my book by Janet Stromberg, Guide to Better Hatching, which is a very good book, she shows a graph of empbryo dev based on temps.
At 80, NO growth,
at 85 the embryo is growing fast reaching 10 mm in 3.5 days;
of course at 100 degrees the embryo is 28 mm in 2 days.
Bottom line, at 85 the embryo is cooking, under 80 no development. What you are seeing sounds bigger; at 7 days and 85 degrees the embryo is 33mm Maybe the days on the counter did get it started.

lol Honestly though, I love incubating and I don't mind turning eggs. I'm a stay at home mom and its much more fun that cleaning

I definitely prefer turning eggs and cleaning stall to housework!! Much more fun.

Quote: Loving all the pics everyone is posting!! I do love the EE, and I hatch a lot of them as soooo many people want them!

Do a couple of pullets attempting to go broody count??

This one sounds the alarm every time I collect eggs

And this one just gave me the stink eye for coming to get eggs again, LOL
