THE MOTHER'S DAY HATCH-A-LONG!!!! The last day to join in and set eggs with us is April 28th.

No chicks for me..... I just looked at my eggs again, and the blobs I saw- I think are just the yolk- not fertile. Mine don't look anything like the pictures. No veining, just what looks like an airspace and the yolk floating at the top as I turn the egg around. She's been a good broody mama, just haven't given the rooster enough time to work his magic on the ladies maybe. He'd been with them for 6 weeks when I collected what I'd hoped were fertile eggs, but I guess not. So now what do I do? Open one in the morning to make sure then take them all ? If they're all duds, can I start her over with eggs I buy from a neighbor? Should I just present her with day old peeps? I'm pretty sad, I was really looking forward to speckled orps....

Any advice will be helpful.
If she has been broody for a while, I would stick something under her(golf balls, wooden eggs) until I could get day olds to put under her,at about 3 weeks of broodiness. Since mine eat so little when they are broody, I would worry about starting over again. I recently dumped a dozen of my own infertile eggs.. It is so disappointing!

I've had a decent hatch rate with shipped eggs, and I've had them come from Tennesse to California. And Bargain is a very reputable breeder, I'd buy from her if I could. Hope your replacement eggs do well!

Looks like one of my BO is broody. Good thing I'm working on a new chicken pen, she shall be separated as soon as she has stolen enough eggs.

I would buy from Bargain again. See those blue baby Lavender Ameraucanas on the pink flowered cover? Those are my babies I hatched out. I should get a picture up of one the birds now..my fav girl. And, she is also using another picture of mine, of one of them as they are feathering out. That would be one of mine. Those eggs got here the next day! Don't ask me how in the world that happened, I live in Utah! She was cute when I wrote her and told her the eggs were already here, she just said, they came on the wings of an angel. Pretty cute considering how she signs off with her posts.

aaggjg.... that poor girlie... I feel her pain. Bullies. No ****** good, ya know? Hope that you're hatching other great eggs.... I'm ordering from "bargain". I know it's a long way and shipped eggs have been a bummer so far, but I've just gotta try again..... just gotta. when I get them, maybe you can help me out? We're close enough!.. Looks like my English Orp seller may send replacements... I didn't ask her or anything. So so so kind. I hope I do them justice. Think I may have had a bum thermometer. Oooooh if it's that easy... wouldn't it be awesome?

I live in Utah, and I already posted this for someone else, but see the pink flower background with the blue Ameraucana babies>those are mine. I live in Utah..they made it one day..!! Not quite sure how that happened. I also like luckypickens. Both of these sellers were great to work with.
What kind did you order from Bargain??

My little hen never leaves her eggs so I lifted her up for a quick pick of her little adopted family----
can not wait to see what they are when they hatch

I am so excited about these eggs

(have not tried to candle them---do you use a regular flashlight???)

I bought some chicks that were hatched from Bargain in Feb...lav ameraucanas.....the hatcher had a great hatch rate and they were gorgeous chicks. Super bouncy and healthy :) They made it from GA to UT so hope you have good luck as well.

Are your babies super friendly? Mine I hatched about 12 weeks ago are the sweetest babies I've had in a long time.

I got to witness a real chick fight.. I was a few pecks and growling. What started it? When I went out side earlier my steps were wet and I feel down 5 steps. I hurt my foot and came back in to prop it up for a little bit. So later I finally made it to the building and opened up the door and the hens couldn't get in fast enough. It was kinda like when there is a line at the ladies room. Hen #1 got in on the nest, then hen #2 and #3 tried as well. Hen one was pecking the others and the growling started. Hen #4 decided to try another nest. My son watched and after a little bit he said that maybe we should break them up. So now I can say I have witnessed a true chick fight.

You can do either. My broody finally quit going broody after 6 weeks. I've heard some people put fake eggs under her to keep her broody.
