You got to grow up in Alaska?! I'm so jealous... I keep trying to find openings with Indian Health Services, we want to end up there... I just worry we'd get lynched because we are vegetarian and somewhat liberal.

Yeah I have spats with my friend in Alaska who I grew up with cause I'm a liberal vegetarian. She turned into a bear hunting republican.

Wow--I am loving the new homestead. You have lots of work ahead of you--but nothing so terrible. The land is soooo pretty.

OK, Cetawin-I looked on a map to see where Scott County is in reference to where my family is and I just want to tell you this...if you hear banjo music, RUN!

Anyone from Kentucky, don't take offence, I am allowed to say that because I was born in Kentucky.
My parents were born right there close in that area where you live and I can tell you, that is truly God's country-beautiful. The people can be a little odd and standoffish(very clannish in that area and I don't mean KKK clannish) until you have been there a while, but it will be worth it. You all bought a gorgeous place and you're going to love it there.
Really wonderful place to raise a family.

I really love the area so far, I especially love our little place.

Wow! First, what a trek, and second, what a gorgeous place!

LadyHawk, I have a friend in TX who came up with the perfect word to describe a home's idiosyncrasies - she calls them "features". For example, in our hallway, which is all natural wood, where the ends of the planks don't meet by about 6"? That's called a "feature". Almost 6 years and I have yet to dare stick my hand in that hole!

As far as the kitchen/DR yellow- think of the money you'll save on coffee, since you won't need it to wake up anymore. Purple is the color of royalty, blue is said to be very soothing, though perhaps not that exact shade......

And who doesn't love roses, bears and bunnies? Everybody loves them.

Well, you have a lot of painting to do, and carpet removing - just think, some people PAY a gym for that kind of workout!

It's a lovely property and I am looking forward to future reports! Glad you all made it safely.
