The mystery of the Missing Ceramic Eggs

I have killed a snake with a shovel ... cut its head off. I now have a hatchet, which certainly works better. I don't like doing it, but I have children.

You are 100% correct on the egg. Squirrels will eat real eggs I caught it in the action. They take the ceramic egg thinking it is real. Been happening for almost seven years now.

I am sure glad we have no coons, opossums etc here. Rabbits, squirrels and deer. We do hear the coyotes but never see them. I am a she by the way.

My poor rat snake ate two ceramic eggs and died. I was very sad. He/she was very beneficial and I am sorry it died. No more ceramic eggs in the nest

I relocated a very persistent rat snake yesterday. First time he was in the coop. I let him go in my brush pile. A couple hours later he was climbing the walls on the exterior of the house. I let him go in the woods at the edge of the yard. The third time he was in the coop again. I took him a few miles away and let him go in the woods. I don't kill beneficial/nonvenomous critters in the yard. Copperheads are another story.

Agreed. Copperhead are abundant here and die every time I find one. They have bit my dog and My cat. I try to keep the rat snakes and the other nonvenomous snakes here.

to use the golf Ball and tether them, by a eye let and twine? Will it continue to fool the Hens? How little like a real Egg can it look and still serve?
