"It's fine," she said, hesitating at the doorway. "I will tend to matters in the morning. I do not mean to disrupt you."
A look of surprise flashed across her otherwise steely expression and Ember smothered it almost as quickly, giving a short nod at the human's words.
As Lyra passed the threshold, the Harpy gently pulled the door shut, aware of the human's frazzled nerves.
"I intend to lock the door tonight, especially after this outburst. But I'll leave the key on the desk, should you need it before I'm awake. Take your claim of anything in the trunks."
She gave a gesturing flick or her hand toward the storage chests.

So, is it hammocks, then?

Have they resolved bed ownership?

"Thank you, Ember." She moved toward the near, empty cot and slowly unpinned her arm. Her wrist would grow stiff by morning.
The cot swung as she settled in, hiding her eyes beneath the crook of her good elbow. She crossed her feet- devils, they were swollen, too- and pushed her bad hand too her chest.
Her legs hurt.
Tay swallowed, relaxing the tension in her hot face.
The morning would not bid her joy.

An unsettled silence engulfed the Harpy for a long, uncomfortable moment. For reasons she couldn't place, she was shocked by Lyra's politeness- and almost pitied her condition. And a new feeling crept beneath these as well, a new form of anger.
Nothing about the human's demeanor deemed her a threat, in word or action. She was wrung dry with exhaustion, and her movements were stiff, dragging. What could have possibility driven Jintao to attack her?
Ember hated the feeling, the inclination to protect this weakened soul, and she brooded wrathfully against herself for it as she slipped into the hammock opposite Lyra's. Her wings arched almost to the low-hanging ceiling as she crossed her legs, casting a looming black shadow against the wall from the lonesome cabin lantern.
The Harpy stretched her wings as far as they would go, sitting upright in the bed, making the crimson feathers brush the wall and ceiling. Their black depth and filling shadow engulfed nearly the entire half of the cabin before she folded them back, and with a twisting wave of her hand, the gentle flame within the glass cage flickered and died, plunging the room into darkness.

(Aaaaannnnd, fin. Anyone else want to write a part for this scene before we skip to morning?)
