Where's Coal at?
(I can't remember I think he's still in his cabin because he just woke up.)
Coal lay stomach down in his hammock, arms dangling down so far his knuckles brushed the floor. His wings were folded neatly, but his feathers were untidy. Finding a comfortable sleeping position in that hammock was about as easy as 4D chess, but Coal had emerged victorious. A thin shaft of light pierced the window and fell across Coal's eye lids. His lids opened just a crack, unwilling to admit more than a little of the blinding light. Coal flung out a leg, squirmed, and managed to get sideways, wings bunched behind him. He sat up, first rubbing his eyes, then the back of his neck.
He had not gotten away fully unscathed. There was a crick in his neck, and his back was stiff. Also, he found that the rocking boat and swinging hammock didn't quite agree with his stomach. He sat squinting at the opposite wall, contemplating his nausea.
Overall, he felt like he'd woken on the wrong side of a nap, the kind where you feel far worse after them, no matter how good your intentions in taking them.

(Completely off subject, but what does that mean? One of my brothers uses that word and I have no idea what it means.
