Also this is how I imagine the first floor layout of the Compound. Rough layout I know!

Amarok slipped into the shadows along the dock, silently making his way towards the ship. The harpy turned away and he took the opportunity to scale the side of the large ship, using barnacles and cracks to climb his way aboard.
Once aboard, Amarok found a near perfect hiding spot among what little cargo there was. He eyed the Harpy quizzically, wondering how best to plan his attack. Amarok glanced at the sky, noting the time of day before pulling out his dagger and meticulously trimming his beard in order to pass the time, he’d grown used to having only his weapon at his side. It was one of the only things he’d managed to grab before Ki- or, Lanchester, banished him and put a price on his head.

(What time of day might it be? For Shem I’ve been saying late evening. What abt the pirate and her mateys?)

i was thinking it was like maybe 5 AMish ???

(I thought it was evening)

Mary awoke when the sun was high in the sky. The owl still perched above her. She was hungry for breakfast, but of course there was nothing to eat.
Nothing to drink, either.
It had taken a whole night to get to the encampment and it would take longer to get back. She was weak and tired now. Mary hadn’t planned very well when she decided to follow the owl to the encampment.
Mary knew which way her home was, and she knew it was very far. True, it was the first time she had traveled this way, but Harpy’s just have a natural sense of direction.
Mary began her long walk. When a stream crossed her path, she blessed her good fortune and didn’t question its source. She felt tired and dizzy from her missed meals, and was sore from the previous-night’s exertion, but she continued resolutely onward.
When she came to rest, some birds enquired of her state. Oh, she was hungry? They brought her whatever nuts and berries they could find. It wasn’t much, but the berries had enough sugar to keep her on her feet for a couple more miles.
By sunset, she was still far from home. She hadn’t flapped a wing since the night before. She was simply too tired to fly.
Surely, the harpy scouts had come more prepared than she.

(Ack! My quotes are getting all wonky for some reason! )

Whoever this assassin or highly trained scout was, their voice was very childlike. Maybe that was a trait of the Wingfolk?
Shem told himself he would find out after they were free, the scout was heading back to Birds Point to deliver the news and to get the help they needed, it wouldn’t be long.
A nonchalant voice bounced around the perimeter wall, signaling the arrival of guards to their post. Shem, being a grey Centaur, tried his best to avoid them by backing into the shadows. He walked along the interior and perimeter walls, passing up the main gate until finally he found a door, leading him into the dungeon. The talking of the guards was no longer audible, but the raspy breathing of some new creature now was.
Shem froze as soon as he heard it, this wasn’t a centaur…or a human…or anything he’d seen before. The very dim light along with the setting sun made it almost impossible to decipher what it was. The shadows seemed to want to envelope this creature, or maybe it was just his mind succumbing to fear.
“Hello? Who’s there?” He asked tentatively.
I like your layout idea! Aerie’s cell has a metal door though with just a small window to look in through.
I can work with it though. :p

Aerie lifted his head and sniffed the air.
The same horse rider was back. Except now he was outside the door. The young wyvern let out a low, curious growl through his exhale. Why was the guard asking who he was? Didn’t they already know who he was? Maybe they didn’t.
Aerie fell silent, waiting for the guard to look through the window.
When he saw the man’s face through the grate, squinting into the darkness to try to make out what he was seeing, Aerie shifted his tail across the stones in acknowledgement to him, waiting for the man’s reaction.
