-The Mythics RP-

(Of course the one time I’m not on byc and being productive that’s when I’m needed, lol)
“Understood!” Coal said cheerfully.
He tugged his cloak tighter about his shoulders and pulled the hood over his feathered ears. Unfortunately, it was none-too-convincing a disguise. His tightly folded wings were a big, bulky lump in the back of his cloak, dragging along the ground. Meanwhile, his frame was small and spare. Perhaps people would simply think him hunchbacked. Maybe if they were half blind and far from sober. Still, it wasn’t like the other harpies’ wings were less conspicuous.
And of course, it wasn’t in Coal’s nature to worry about being noticed. But if it was, his fears were sure to be unfounded.
Teenage boys in oversized hoodies, no matter how oddly lumpy they appeared, never merited a second glance.
Coal reached within the folds of his cloak and slipped on a couple of sleek black leather gloves.
He marched obediently down the gangplank and onto the shore, waiting for his sister and whoever else she chose to drag along to catch up.
And impatient creature though he was, Coal waited patiently. It was in his best interest not to be difficult.
If he didn’t seize every chance to thaw the frost queen that was his sister he might never get to. Long he had desired to become acquainted with her. And the opportunity had fallen into his lap. A pirating adventure, together! He hadn’t navigated it tactfully at first, that was true. He would just have to suck up for a while to make up for it.
Ember landed lightly before the gangplank, hovering briefly above the ground with large pulses of her dark wings before setting her boots on the solid planks. She folded her wings beside her arms as she wrapped the heavy cloak around herself, stepping confidently off the Quicksilver and striding down the plank to the dock, where the Phoenix waited, surprisingly patient.
The extra bulk of the massive feather made her frame appear much larger than it truly was, but perhaps it would deter greedy eyes from attempting to rob her. The heavy edges of the cloth lightly brushed the ground, only occasionally allowing a loose wing tip to slip out from beneath.
"Now listen closely," she said sternly, addressing the Phoenix without facing him. She slid the thick leather gloves over her slender hands, adjusting them carefully. "Don't talk unless I tell you to, and keep your eyes open. We are in an unpredictable territory and you may have only gotten lucky with your little drop in today. Am I clear?"
She gripped the hood of the cloak, stopping with it half-lifted to shoot the younger Mythic a sharp glance from vivid eyes, demanding his compliance.

"Crystal," Coal said, flashing a grin. "I would say the same to you," he said, "considering you arrived in the same manner that I did." Irony tinged his voice.

Ember dropped the hood over her head before turning sharply to face the Phoenix, her eyes flaring.
"I didn't drop on some stranger's head acting like I'd known them forever. I had half the mind to shoot you on arrival, and if you pull any more bird-brained stunts like that on a pirate or soldier- whether you think you know them or not- the falling of a pistol hammer will be the last thing that you hear. You got lucky with me- only a miracle would save you again."
The Harpy let a hard stare linger on him for a long second before turning and striding up the pier, expecting him to follow, but not caring to check.

(I do want to let you know, the hard feelings are only from Ember, I am starting to really enjoy interacting her with Coal)

(glad to hear that, lol)
"Okay, that really was a mistake," Coal admitted, trotting after her.

"Yes, it was," Ember agreed curtly.
She looked him over with a judgemental, sideways stare.
"Don't hold your wings like that." She changed subjects suddenly. "If you flatten them on your back they stick up too much. Wrap them against your arms."
She glanced down at his wingtips.
"And bring a larger cloak next time."
The Phoenix was painfully inexperienced, and Ember suppressed an exasperated sigh, settling instead for a long, calming breath, fixing her eyes ahead again.

"My cloak is dragging on the ground! It can't get any longer." Coal protested. "I can't help it if I'm short." He crossed his wings more tightly, drawing the dragging tips up from the ground. He was highly opposed to holding his wings in any but the compact naturally folded position. Wrapping them around his arms would take effort. He glared mutiniously at the back of Ember's head, but he also exended his wings slightly, crossed his arms, and grasped the primaries in either hand, wrapping his wings about his body like she'd asked. If not for his cloak, he would have looked remarkably like a lady wrapped up tightly in her cardigan to keep off the cold.

Ember released a quiet, half-hearted scoff, pressing several loose strands of black hair beneath the hood before tugging it further over her face.
"You have a name right?"

@Amer

Jintao looked down at the dagger. "I've got some stuff I'd like to talk to you about, but I'm sure you'd prefer if I talked to you about it elsewhere." He slid down in the seat and pointed the dagger at her. "Unless you'd rather tell me it here."

She sat up and opened her hands in a confused gesture. "I don't know what you're talking about. Let's leave. Lead the way, man."

Tay slid shakily from the booth, fingers tight with suppressed blood.
Well, now he was educated.
She glanced around the mostly abandoned bar.
Everything sacred.
Anyone could have told him anything.
