Bird? Gecko watched Galen go. He went to the top of the stairwell, doubtful that Galen would return. The men below were strange, having come at him for no obvious reason, so what said they wouldn't do more to an intruder?
The moments took their time, and Gecko rubbed his hands over each other, his wings drooping by his sides. He listened, expecting the screach of the poor Harpy getting overpowered and eaten. Then, a form appeared below, moving quickly. Gecko backed as Galen clamored up.
"Ye-ah alive!" He threw his arms around Galen, lifting him off the ground and spinning. He dropped him and grabbed the shoes. "They-uh in one piece!" He hugged his shoes to his face and kissed them. "I thought they'd eaten you!"
Gecko dropped to the deck and shoved his shoes onto his bare feet. He stood and a smile stretched across his face. "Thank you!"

Coal smiled back, revealing a mouth of very pointy white teeth. She was intimidating, but he could manage an easy grin with anyone. In fact, when someone else smiled first, grinning was almost reflexive for him.

What an odd soul.
She gave a pointed toss of her head, turning back to the rolling cove as if to ignore him, all the while training her sense on his presence.

Coal quit grinning. He wondered when someone would finally come and tell him what to do. What did pirates do all day, anyway? Aside from manning the ship, of course. Well, their main job was fighting and capturing other ships. Perhaps they would learn to fight? Perhaps he'd learn to man the canon?

(You’re fine…my PLANTS however are NOT. They RIPPED them apart and NOW I have to PRAY to HEAVEN ABOVE that they sprout roots in the wet environment I just put the torn up pieces in or I’m down THREE of my favorite plants…okay, I can write now. Gimmy a couple min)

(Thank you, it’s okay I think, thankfully it’s a golden pothos and a Swiss cheese plant and they take root pretty easily. I put them in some water to help them sprout)
