got some headway made on the duck house, which is good, because they gotta go from the people house. ill get roofing and siding on Monday and some hardware, there will be a window in each end, and a 4' hinged door for easy access and cleaning the duck door will be the 17" square opening in the larger door you see under the window. it will have metal roof, and T-111 siding, I have some mangey T+G pine I plan to use for interior. I have a question about insulation, I had planed to use foam insulation on the ceiling and roof, but I am hesitant about the floor as I don't want to encourage any mold growth and I fear having layers of flooring might encourage that. I figure they will have bedding there so there will be some sort of insulation. I fear the thing turning into an easy bake oven in the summer without it, should I attempt to do the end walls or no? the windows in each end will be hinged awning style and will have hardware cloth inside to keep unwanted critters out.
I am open to suggestions as this is a first attempt at ducks and a structure for them for us. as it sits on my little trailer ( the lowest one I have) its 13'4 and I plan to move it to my house under cover of darkness on an undisclosed date. for a number of reasons I chose not to build it at home, but at my folks, which is also home base for work in the family electrical business, but mainly we have rules here about built in place structures vs " portable" and this is "portable" so no permits required.

An thoughts on insulation? Should I, should I not? How about flooring? I have contemplated sheet metal siding as it would not mold or mildew. But it would be an uneven surface however it would have some sort of bedding on it.
