One day I would love to have that kind of set up.

It's been a long time coming! I lived with one of those boxes for a long time in my apartment. Now have 13 acres and a dream!

Very nice! What size boxes do you have and what did you make them from? I'm doing raised gardening for the first time this year and using 4 x 4 composite beds. They were a little expensive and would love to find an alternative. I have looked at using cedar lumber, but it is also high.

Thanks lazy gardener. I have considered the cedar, but so far haven't found a good price. I plan on building the beds myself. I'll keep looking and maybe find some used lumber.

If looks aren't important, and you want those raised beds to get started right away, without a lot of cost, you can just build them without using any lumber to frame them. Lay cardboard, thick newspaper, covered with flakes of hay or straw on the sides, and you're ready to go. You can work on framing them out next season or this fall when time is not of such importance.
