The new permanent pen setups in progress for spring.. (pic heavy)

Wow those are some lucky chickens to get that much space!

Also from the look of the tree's and dirt... are you in Florida? Looks similar to my yard.

Keep up the great work.

Nice looking project! 2x4 no-climb fence is what I have used. Sturdy looking fence you are building.

As far as getting your wood pile started, use a chain saw and cut partway into the base of the pile, about three feet in by 3 feet wide. Then build a real campfire with some dry wood in the area that you cleared. Do this on the side the wind comes from. Keep that fire going hot and heavy, and be prepared to burn about 3 wheel barrow loads of firewood to get it going. You may want to start more than 1 fire in your pile.

We cut down 5 cottonwoods clearing our property, split it, getting 14 cords of wood. We used 4 cords buring the stumps.

A busy weekend with prepping new garden beds and continued work on the new pens. I am

that the fencing will come in this week.

Here is the flock and the middle poles that are 4x4x10 vs the outside 4x4x8 -- too bad I miscounted and still need two more- lol.

Further progress - I am becoming a pro at digging holes. Did all of the ones for this side in 1/3 the time of the back.

Got this idea from a book - these gates should be pretty sag resistant. Uses up alot of concrete though.

A look at a finished setting before being buried.

I definitely got my workout in this weekend, man I am still hurting.

I am in awe! Wow at the work. Makes my little projects and the accompanying whining really look pitiful! LOL

Aside from the fact that you have the most beautiful property and *gasp* SUN, I also have coop envy. Wishing I was a duck or chicken living on your property. Nice!

Your pen makes my 9x16 one that I'm working on look small. BUT mine can be moved.

You are also working 2x maybe 3x as fast as me.

I'm in awe of anyone that keeps that many chickens.

Great work!

Well the fencing came in and work began in earnest again. I was excited, now I am just tired. It seems as if everything involves a shovel- as an aside I now hate shovels. The real fun was not having a truck to borrow this weekend and cramming lumber and fence rolls into our vehicles.

Don't mock my style, it's comfortable! Burying posts.

Here you can see all the posts are in and the fence is going up. Stuff is heavy! I also got most of the first tree debris pile to burn.

Way down there at the end is my garden tractor/overblown lawn mower. The taller posts in the middle denote the first pen - destined for meaties.

There are posts everywhere! I really look forward to fencing the property.. not.

Saturday was a rest day.. the DGF decided to catch me napping.

3 rolls of red brand deer & orchard fence, so far it works well despite me being new at working with it.

Over the coming days & weekend I hope to get all the fencing up gates and all. Then MAYBE just MAYBE I can order my turkeys and slow down some. Gardening and building the duck pond won't be near as bad; except for that stupid shovel.
