The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

I don't know. I can't believe that they didn't put an iv in. They did do a second CT scan. No change per the paperwork. My step daughter picked her up and it was stressful. She couldn't communicate with the doctor, as his English was limited.
They lost her clothes and shoes! Thank goodness, I took her purse, phone, and glasses with me. It is a small town hospital, under staffed, and mostly short term contract doctors and nurses. I am somewhat angry at the lack of care on their part. I have to say that the emergency room staff was excellent, communicative (is that a word?), and very caring. She went to the bathroom, is drinking and ate a little this morning.😊

Thank you, Debby. We are going to check on home health Monday, and see if she is eligible.
So far, so good this morning.

I'm sure your MIL will be a lot more comfortable being around family. At least you all won't lose her clothes (how crazy is that)!

Keep us posted on how you all are getting along Janie, you have some good people here pulling for you!

I would say that she is. She has been growing progressively more forgetful, but as she is in her 80s, and not knowing about her falls, we believed it to be age related.
When she fell this week, she swore that she did not hit her head, but when she said she had neck pain and wasn't able to eat, I insisted on an exam. She was surprisingly cooperative. That signaled that something was up too.
I believe that she has been hiding her falls/ injuries because for the last year, we have been trying to encourage her to sell her home and move into a senior living complex or live with family.
She is a very independent, twice widowed lady. She raised her sons alone, and on a secretary's salary, with very little family support. I admire her very much. I know that growing old has been rough on her. I'm assuming that she will be open to living with us, once this issue is resolved. I'm being optimistic about the situation.
Head injuries are more common than we think. Hopefully She will get the falling under control now.
