The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Oh my Blooie, that is scary. Are there other similar facilities nearby? I'm sure her skills and experience are in high demand.

Isn't that the concern? That if we old people do physical work, especially somewhat rarely, we'll have a heart attack and die?

She's been holding out on us!!!

I wouldn't fret the paint. The people are looking at the building, not the paint. It isn't like the walls are all grungy and stained, just primed. Primer is fine for what they are looking for. You and Ken get some rest.
Well, what I was afraid of is just what happened. The nasty nurse up there tried to put her up on 2nd floor. Tammy is tough, and that girl faces everything head on. There’s not much she’s afraid of. Second floor is one of them. But she decided to grit her teeth because they were short handed, and then make it clear on Monday to the big-wigs that that was absolutely the last time. She got to work, went up there to do shift change reports, and Sargent Nurse kept saying, “Now these patients are the violent ones, that one is a dirty old man,“ etc, etc. Tam was literally shaking, both with fear and anger. God bless her co-workers downstairs.….when they asked why she wasn’t on the floor and were told where she was, they knew immediately that she wouldn’t be able to handle it. So they called one of 2nd floor’s regular CNAs and she came racing in to get Tam out of there. But it was still the last straw. She quit. Oh, Sargent Nurse is retaliating tonight - she stuck Tam on the Covid unit. But Tam’s notice is in and she’s not taking it back. Tam says she’s tempted to work the active Covid unit and then lick the rim of Sargent Nurse’s coffee cup before she leaves tomorrow night. (Oh, don’t worry, she won’t.)

It didn’t take long for her to get another job lined up. It means a 30 mile drive each way instead of the 7 blocks she has now, but it’s worth it. One of the nurses she used to work with at the Care Center left about 4 years ago and works down in Basin. She’s been begging Tam to work for her almost since she left, but Tam loved her residents, loved working close to home, and she needed the night and weekend differential in her paycheck. As soon as Keela saw Tam’s post on Facebook she called, hired her on the spot for more to sort pay, better benefits, two weeks of higher CNA2 training (paid while she trains) and two paid weeks while Tam catches her breath between jobs. Those two weeks count as her vacation, but they both agreed that it’s worth it. Keely and Tam go way back….Keela is the one who found Tam’s cute little house and kept kicking her in the hiney to get off dead center and try to buy it. Tam’s understandably nervous to start over, but she trusts Keela, Keela is highly respected in her job, and Tam no longer trusts the other Care Center to keep their word to her. I pray it goes well.

I’m not going to worry about painting, Bruce. The walls are painted, not just primed, but they’re all painted with flat white paint. We got two 5 gallons pails of it, “Delicate White”, with the house and have no intention of using flat paint anywhere. We’ve made significant progress in getting things done in here and I’m not gonna break my neck just to please someone else. :old

Yep. We got robbed in the @N F C fence photo department. Suppose we’ll get robbed with the porch, too?

Good morning all.

I got an email this morning with a major schedule change the next 3 days. One of the special Ed teachers husband has Covid so she will be out(her kids go to daycare)Not sure why that affects my schedule unless there are other paras out. I don’t feel good myself. It feels like a normal cold but is there such a thing anymore?

I’m glad she has another job so quickly Blooie. That shows the work ethic she has.
