The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Only good thoughts for Katie! I'm sure the coach's confidence in her, will help her own confidence immensely.
Thanks, Janie. For most kids it probably would puff them up a bit and actually increase their belief in themselves. But kids with Autism don’t always process things that way. All Katie saw…at least as of last night when she got the news….was that she had another way to make mistakes. She had the pressure of being the only one from her team to represent the 2 schools, and then the new presentation to learn and worry about. We’ll see…..she’s proven me wrong before and I don’t mind that a bit.

@bruceha2000, remember when she was 8 and her Agatha went broody? Katie put the old eggs under her. You and Beekissed persuaded me NOT to try to trick her with fertilized hatching eggs but to praise her for her fast thinking and tell her the truth - that we were going to get eggs that WOULD hatch. And when Scout was injured and I was afraid to tell her he’d gotten worse? “Just do what you can, Gramma, and let God do the rest.” I guess I should have more faith in her, but she was so upset last night and still this morning. I still have a tendency to go overboard on wanting to protect her, even though she’s 16 years old now.

And although it’s now after 6 here, we still haven’t heard from Katie about today’s results. But we did just find out about this….this weekend was also the State competition for FBLA - Future Business Leaders of America - and Katie is on that team. So is Isabelle. That event was held in Laramie, and Katie and Isabelle knew they’d be in Rock Springs (until Isabelle got sick). So they got permission to participate by submitting their presentations virtually earlier in the week. Shoot, I didn’t even know Katie was in FBLA. Anyway, the results were just posted on the Rocky Mountain Facebook page. Notice the first two names!!

The irony is until Katie contacts us, she has no idea she placed first in her event at State! Nor does she know she got the part she wanted in the school play! This girl is on fi-ire!!
