The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

We have all of the above, but the lightning bugs aren't as prolific as they were when we were kids. Dh says it's because too many chemicals have been in use for too long.
My brothers still live down there. One in Malakoff the other in Bullard. They both say they haven't seen hardly any for the past couple of years. 🥺

Malakoff isn't very far from here. I have a nephew in Bullard. Both very small towns, so what a coincidence!
We have a multitude of dragon flies, and butterflies. But so few lightning bugs. It's sad, they were such a wonderful part of chicldhood for our generation.
I also miss horn toads, giant grasshoppers, and green snakes. I haven't seen any of those in years.

Ooh, horned toad and green snakes...two other things we used to scare our baby sister with! Dang we were kinda mean :lau🤔

How many grasshoppers would you like? :lol:They are destructive to crops here. We had a ton last summer as it was so dry. I watched my friends little girls last summer and when we went out on the Gator they would hop on the kids and they freaked out.
