I put a Curt hitch on my wife's car and bought a bolt together trailer from Harbor Freight. That's what I have been doing all last week. I had to beef it up in many places. My, what a job! I am waiting on the gusset plate for the hitch to arrive.

Hi Janie, you also! We are on our way to find another fireplace roof flashing. We need 3 and only found 2 the other day. It says there’s 1 available at Menards in another town. I hope it’s still there. It’s about 150 mile round trip.

Hi Janie. They’re doing ok so far, thanks. How about you guys? All good?

I’m setting up a fan to draw air out of the coop this afternoon and they’re getting ice in their water twice a day, plus two blocks of ice per day so it’s always available. Our overnight low was 95 and we’re under a heat alert the next few days. There’s relief in sight though, we should be down to only 100 or so next week, but it’ll be muggy because our rain chances return. That’s fine, I’ll take it!

We are hotter and dryer during the day, the humidity goes up at night. It is a depressing summer. Our garden is dead or dying.
My chickens are mostly OK. I have a couple of older chickens that are suffering some. I brought my 4 yo rooster in yesterday. He spent the night in the bathtub. He's out right now, but we'll see how he does when it gets hotter. He is a big boy (was almost 12lb) but has lost almost pound of weight. I don't want to loose him. He is a pet.

Found it, thank goodness! We ordered it through the lumber yard we deal with, but he can’t get it.

I feel bad for you Janie I hope your rooster is ok. I’m glad that I don’t have chickens right now between the heat and everything else going on.

I’m especially enjoying my porch today. Cowley Days start today. It’s a huge deal around here and people “come home“ to share the weekend celebration with friends and family. The population here at least doubles, if not more. Campers full of families are parked in front of houses, huge barbecues are happening, and folks are taking evening strolls, bike rides, or car rides all around town. There’s even a wagon pulled by a team of 4 horses carrying folks around, and some are skipping the wagon and just riding horses.

It’s been an absolute hoot to see them going by and doing double or triple takes. Last year when they perused the neighborhoods, the old trailer house was still on this corner, just as it had been for 50 Cowley Days celebrations before. This year The Giant is gone, the house is gone, and this brand new home sits proudly in its place. As they gawk, I just smile and wave. Some come up and chat about it for a bit. I’m enjoying this!!

Monday the 11th I fell and have been on a walker ever since. Tomorrow I go to the doc to get checked out. I can finally do the stairs.

You've been holding out on us Bob! I'm so sorry you fell, especially since Sue isn't there to nurse you back to health and tend to your needs.
