I have my own opinion about the truth of the matter, but she was let go for a more qualified person according to the bosses. They’re “growing.”

You don't fire a good worker to make room for someone "more qualified". Apparently she was doing a good job based on your opinion and that of others. I don't suppose the new person is related to the boss's boss.
