I'm making one final run to the grocery store until after Christmas...anyone need anything?
I'm scared, hope it's not too insane.
Wine for DW's Xmas present to go with the bottle of scotch I already got her. I tried yesterday, had a plan, most efficient route: Small grocery store for a few things, hit the liquor store for the wine then the small specialty store where I go every Friday morning for the loaf of sourdough I get at the Farmers Market on Saturdays May through October.

Well, train locked up traffic so after being very patient I hung a right and went to get the bread. Ashley had brought 12 loaves as usual, 4 there were set aside, mine among them. I call every Friday morning to lock one down ;) Ashley (store owner, not the baker) said she was sold out by 10 AM. But cash only, she had power but no internet. We need to bring back those slide over paper CC machines! I had cash, no problem.

Chatted for awhile, hopefully it improved her day if only slightly. Traffic started moving so I went to the grocery store. No internet, cash only. No problem I still had enough for what I needed. Heard there that the north end of town had no power, that is where the big grocery stores are.

OK, not nearly enough cash left to buy the wine so I backtrack the 1.5 miles to the CU ATM. Get plenty of cash and drive back to the liquor store. A guy coming out caught me before I even got out of the car to say the registers were down, not selling anything. So off home I went.

Huge wind all night, no snow or ice on the cars, only had to shovel between them and the road so DW and DD2 can get out to work. 6 AM is not a time I want to be awake let alone out shoveling at 7°F plus high winds ;) Will call the liquor store before I go out, make sure they are up and running again. And since it is Saturday the local brewery/bar will open at 11, I can get a "growlet" of beer, same as I do on Farmers Market Saturdays.

Then it will be time to get out the big tractor and move snow while there are only 2 cars in the way.

Janie, after a couple of phone transfers, I reached a manager at one of your Collin St. Bakeries that let me order a cookbook! They aren't available online but this nice lady is going to send me one :D
It probably helped that you said "Janie sent me" :D
