The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Get some rest Mark! And then tomorrow maybe you can give us a new swan picture? It's been a while!
The Cob is meaner than a freshly kicked hornets' nest! It may be a good year, when the cob is that mean you know the hormones are flowing. He doesn't scare me, and you know why. Tho I walk through the valley of death I shall fear no evil, and you know why? Cause I'm the meanest S.O.B in the valley. :lau:gigI know how to handle him, if he sees me coming in the pen he attacks! But I can handle the attacks, then he starts to head the other way. When they attack, they grab with the beak and pound with the wing knuckles all you do is grab the head with the left hand and wrap you right arm around the wings so he cannot flap, after that you can let go of his head and he's as tame as a kitten. In this way the cob doesn't get hurt and the same for the handler. He is huge now. When I go to feed in the morning, I can get some photos. It's time to boost them with some greens and vitamin supplements. I saw a V shaped flock of Trumpeters heading North last evening, That's a sign of an early spring. Much more dependable than Geese in my opinion.

Wow, an attack by one of those huge birds could really hurt! Good thing you know how to handle him.

Looking forward to seeing some pictures!
