The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

For a lack of knowing where else to post this... and please correct me if this is inappropriate since I am not entirely familiar with your traditions...

HaPpY 4th July to all my Backyard Chickens' American peeps.
I hope you have a wonderful day.

With best regards from (a wet and cold) Cape Town.
Thanks!

Hi @Gill-b thanks for the happy 4th greeting! You're welcome to join in here any time.

Food prep for the 4th is almost done.

Apple crisp made last week & in the freezer to warm up tomorrow
Ribs made yesterday
Cole slaw made yesterday
Beans simmering on the stove now
Eggs are hard boiled & just need to "devil" them

DH got to pick all his favorites. Once this is all pulled together, I won't have to cook for at least 3 days. win-win!

That all sounds delisherous Debby! I don't know what we're doing yet, it's terrible hot here. I'm thinking ice cream for dinner.

Ice cream is always the answer to what's for dinner  Do you make your own?

We try to keep ice cream at a minimum but I've been eyeballing one of these little makers from Dash (either the single serve mug or the pint one):

We have made the no churn kind before, but no we just buy it. It has been years since we made it in a real churn before!

Making is just too much work when it's this hot outside, I get super lazy. Those gadgets looks pretty neat though, let me know if you get one and how you like it!
