The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Hi IM. It was good. I ate too much as always. Hope yours was good too.
We are going to son # 2 today for another feast. We are meeting his girlfriend’s family. They’ve been together over a year and we’ve only met an uncle.

Hi Sue! It was good, thanks.

Black Friday changed a few years ago here. It’s not awful like it used to be.

Hi Debby! It was good. I hope you enjoyed your feast.

Hi DMC, enjoy feast #2! Did you bake pies for that one too?

Hi Jen, glad you won't have to get a new tv

How helpful to have your niece shop for you!
Yes, it is! She wasn't supposed to come down, but her brother has mono, so instead of going home (she is in college playing basketball) she came to my other SIL's house with us.

Is your yard all fairly patched up and everything flowing smoothly over there now? I'm glad your turkey turned out great. I was having a discussion with everyone trying to figure out what was special about the cook from frozen turks, and we couldn't deduce much. (Are all turkeys cook from frozen turkeys? lol. Is it the brine???)

Must be fun to have your niece there. It's nice to have some family around, especially with the holidays!

Our yard is a disaster (but at least the pipes are fixed). This is the end result:

Come spring time DH will work on getting it fixed up. He's a golf course superintendent so he's good at growing green stuff.

Hey that looks pretty good! Hopefully you don't get too much rain in the near future. Er, I dunno, I was thinking mud, but maybe that will help things reseed? I'm glad your husband probably knows.

It is nice having family around. Having my nephew and his parents would have been perfect, but we still had my FIL, aforementioned niece, BIL, SIL, my sister and us. No family photos or food photos, so that was kind of a fail, but probably for Christmas.

Sorry, I forgot to answer this part of your post.

The cook from frozen bird takes away the need for it to sit days taking up valuable fridge space defrosting. It's already brined so all you have to do is take it out of the wrapping, put it in the roasting pan and brush some oil on it and stick it in the oven. The wrapper says it takes about 4 hours to bake, mine took 5 hours probably because different ovens vary in temp.

It turned out with golden crispy skin and juicy meat. The only thing I missed was it doesn't come with giblets which I like to use for gravy (but not that big a deal).

It was a pretty big turkey for just the two of us but DH is excited about the leftovers so that might not be an issue in the end.

Hi Debby! I brought a gallon of milk. I knew there would be plenty of food. The sister baked a homemade pumpkin…from real pumpkin. It was really good except the crust. That was very hard.

I’m glad you got it done so quickly. Is that gravel?

It might have tested our marriage a bit, but we put the boys in with some of the girls today (I usually catch and handle the sheep mostly, but I'm still trying to baby my foot a little). So remind me in 5 months when I forget when the lambs are coming. 😅

Good morning Jen, such cute faces. Looking forward to some lambs!
