The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

I have to show off my favorite rose bush again. I don't think its ever had so many blooms. We can smell it from several feet away.

It's been a busy afternoon. DH and I took advantage of the nice weather and prepared 10 huge planters for veggies (still need to get the actual plants). Hopefully we can get out to pick those up tomorrow. It felt good to get my hands dirty!
Have you decided what you will plant, or will you just buy what you can find?

We know some of what we want...the old standbys of bell peppers, cukes and cherry tomatoes. We might divide one or two of the pots to do a few herbs. I use a lot of cilantro and basil in my cooking and fresh is easy enough to grow. Otherwise, we'll just see what strikes our fancy:)

eta: DH wants to try strawberries in a tower. We grew lots of berries on our little FL farm but not in a tower. The tower might be something new to try.

I've never tried a strawberry tower but I've always thought they were beautiful and interesting. Tomatoes and cukes sound wonderful. I keep cilantro growing all year and usually basil and oregano too. I like to grow mint also, for water and lemonade, but I don't use it as often as I used to.

Hope the strawberries work out. We have a lot of squirrels and wild birds around so I might have to fight them off

I'm excited about a little gardening this year, it's been a while since we have been able to.

Maybe you should pick up a little netting while you're shopping to protect the berries.
