The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Good morning everyone. I am now looking after one lonely Button quail chick. It's mother is in the aviary and on Monday I found a dead chick, on Tuesday she hatched another, yesterday I couldn't find it anywhere (it's presently 5am Thursday here), then this poor little sod hatched and must've wandered off and got lost. I found it near death! Usually quail will hatch and eggs that are too slow are just left behind. Already it's looking for me when I talk to it. I haven't woken it up yet - hopefully it's safe somewhere under the fuzzy cloth I gave it.

Calling Nurse J...calling Nurse J

Face it girl, you're destined to mother any bird that comes within earshot of you. And that's a good thing. :love

It has a mirror but it's a smartie pants and looks behind it. It can't understand why it can't snuggle with its buddy. I'm hoping another chick will hatch and I'll steal that one too.

Maybe you could just fix him up with one of those baby slings and wear him around the house while you do other stuff. Sounds like he's already adopted you as the Mum!

I'm just so scared of squashing the poor little thing. They are so tiny. My DD will hold it lots once she gets up. She's thrilled it's a wild coloured one (her favourite). I wish I had a top with a breast pocket, but I don't. Maybe hubby has one somewhere I can borrow.

That's the idea...a pocket quail!

I think it's wonderful your DD gets involved with the birds. They can be a lifelong hobby for people to enjoy.

Husband finally went to the doctor! Been gone 2 hours. Wonder if they sent him to the hospital.

I hear a car in the driveway. He must be back!

1-2 broken ribs in his back. Gave him a pain shot and 5 days worth of pills. About what i figured. Those rib fractures make it bad for breathing.

5 days of pain pills is maximum in this state. We have both had busted ribs before. You just mostly tough it out. Eventually it stops hurting. Good thing he got the wood chopped already.

Glad he finally went and it's not too too serious! Though broken ribs sound painful

And wow that sucks! Is that new cause of the opoids or has it always been like that?

They gave him narcotics and showed him the door? Don't they tape up people's ribcages to keep things in place and maybe decrease the pain of things like breathing?

Yeah, MUCH easier to keep them in a pocket than in a button!.
