The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Isn't that always the way? Gotta sign up for the insurance in Oct or Nov, find out in Jan that you need work. We paid full freight for BOTH DD's orthodonture for just that reason. HUGE bucks.

:gig OK, now that is JUST TOO FUNNY a typo!

Do you hate the dentist or his rates??

Sounds like you might want to get a second opinion from a cheaper dentist. Probably still need the fillings but maybe not so expensive??

Eeek, that had to have been expensive! Orthodontists are crazy pricey

My aunt used to say "A BA stands for bugger all".

:lau

Just remember it's absolutely ok to be you! And they aren't real friends if they don't love all of you (like we do)! :hugs
I love this quote:

Thank you! :hugs

Usually doesn't bug me but idk, I guess I was thinking about it yesterday.

Had a few that just randomly left or turned on me for no reason but that's their problem.

It was a while ago.

And these were mostly online friends, which I guess may have contributed to the problem. I doubt anyone would have the nerve to do any of it in person hah

I once had a root canal done with an infection in the tooth so pain killer was ineffective. The dentist just kept drilling with tears rolling down my face! I am overdue for a check up:oops:. The only dentists i like are in West TN.

Yeah, i was begging them to use laughing gas or hit me over the head with a frying pan or something! And they thought i was going back there! No freaking way!

Wow how awful. They should like lose their license or something.

My last little one hatched this evening. It's a minor miracle seeing as I (stupidly) thought it had pipped in two different places on the egg. So I opened up the air cell enough to see there were still veins there, so I oiled it up, left it to it, and it popped out just fine. It's still drying off completely and looks to have a bit of membrane stuck to its wing, but it's perky and cuddling with the others. I think it's a caramel.

Awwww

Morning everyone!

Finally got caught up with you all from yesterday :D Dental appointment went fine but came home with a headache so didn't do much with the rest of the day. I guess we've all had our share of bad experiences with dentists, a good one is worth hanging on to.

@DigMyChicks I hope your son will get another opinion before letting the one dentist fill those cavities. The doc my mom used to take us to would drill every 6 months. I found out as an adult most of those were totally unnecessary but since they were done they've had to be replaced...the original doc just did lots of little 'surface' fillings that have fallen apart over time.

@sunflour your netted run is going to be so nice, the girls will love their time out there.

@JaeG cute little chick, glad he did alright!

@rjohns39 you're right on with the degree comments. Throughout my 33 years in the health insurance business, many times I saw people hired or promoted over more qualified employees simply because they had degrees. And I mean degrees that had nothing to do with business, it was just the fact that someone had that piece of paper. Even so, I am not a proponent of everyone going to college. I believe some people are better suited to learning a trade...the world will always need plumbers, electricians, and the like (and a person can make a very good living from some trades).

Ok, starting to ramble, it must be time for another cup of coffee :)

Agree with what you said about schools and there's a lot of votechs around here.

Unnecessary drilling isn't good, glad you're going to get another opinion.

I didn't know the dentist I went to as a kid had a reputation for unnecessary drilling until I was an adult working for a health insurance company. I mentioned to my mom once about all the work that guy did that wasn't needed and she said she knew but kept taking us to him anyway because "he was so nice".
:barnie
Gee, thanks Mom.

Wow! Sorry

Yep, I read it just after it was posted. What a "herd" of animals during the time in TN!

Then your post requesting Sumi change your user name in your interview. It wasn't there when I went into the thread. So I read your interview, still NorthFlChick. Then there was Sumi's post saying it had been changed. And so it is!!

I'm never this on top of things! I better go back to bed while I am ahead.

Dad had that problem. Had a good dentist, good hygienist. Hygienist left, son took over his father's business and all of a sudden my Dad "needed" a lot of work. He happened to find out where the hygienist went and moved. Amazing I know but that move also negated the need for all the work he "needed" according to the other dentist.

It is sad, we are brought up to think that our medical providers put our best interests foremost. Guess not.

Now you guys have me worrying whether mine does unnecessary things hah

I don't think so though because most times i have nothing wrong.

You're already on top of things? You're scaring me Bruce, I don't want that bar set so high I can't live up to it :lau

I just have to say, there are good medical providers out there. I've been fortunate enough to have had some myself. But like any other profession, the bad apples are probably talked about more than the good ones.

Very true.

I didn’t go to the dentist until I was an adult...with 12 kids my parents couldn’t afford it. I’d rather have an honest dentist if I had the choice.

Sorry :/

And i agree

My new little girls seem to be doing better today. They're not all huddling in a heap anymore.

A different spin...
My dad got really sick. His palor was grey. He got huge droopy bags under his eyes. He felt like crap. He went to the doctor and was told he had a sinus infection. So he took meds, nasal sprays etc. Nothing helped. He felt so lousy he even went to the ER one Christmas day. He suffered like this for months. Then he went to the dentist for a checkup. Turns out what was making him so sick was an absess.

Good Morning Friends :hugs

Aaaw, loving all the bubby pics Jae :love

Great interview Cap :clap

You know that old saying 'If You Have Nothing Nice To Say, Do Not Say Anything At All'?

Going with that .. I have nothing to say! However, pictures do not qualify as "saying" ;)

Re: Work ........ :rant :barnie :he :th :idunno :old :duc :hit

After yesterday's phone debacle, the Systems Admins decided overnight that they would 'clean up some access groups' resulting in me not having access to systems I use on a regular basis. Tried to log in to clean up any extended or 'disconnected' sessions as I do every morning, no access. Tried to zap a session for a user, no access!

Plus, after I left yesterday, there was an issue with an external party and our systems communicating with each other and the response to the HD's was "This looks to be an issue with xxxxxx. All we can do is wait until they fix it".

Seriously? Of course, I queried that this morning when I came in to a heap of tickets and got told "No, we should have contacted XXX to fix it. I think their e.mail is xxxxx".

So, now I am doing what the late afternoon shift should have done! :he

Sometimes I wish I did not have a work ethic and could call in sick! :p
