Poor Mr Pig! Hope he starts perking up soon.

Well extreme humidity and heat does not make for fun cake making! Icing the cake (frosting it I mean) with Buttercream and trying to get decorations to stick was fun when the icing was so soft and had no hope of hardening up! I hadn't given much fore thought to what I was putting the cake on either so Mr Dragon ended up a bit squished up on a platter. He's not as beautiful as the first one I made when our son turned 1 but he was tasty and DS loved him. DH helped to decorate which I was very thankful for. He's got dragon treasure tucked up in his tail. I found a candy place that had 'gold nuggets', 'pearls', and 'rubies'.

I've had 5 more Button chicks hatch but two yesterday needed help. I got up early yesterday morning and thought one of the other babies had escaped its cage because of all the peeping I could hear. I finally figured out it was the incubator so opened it expecting a chick to have hatched. It was a half unzipped egg yelling so I gave it some encouraging words (they do like it when you talk to them) and left it to it, thinking it would hatch soon. Next time I checked there were three chicks hatched out but this little egg hadn't made any progress. So I helped the poor little thing out but it was still attached to the egg. I left it to dry off in the incubator and it did detatch itself. Later in the day I checked the last two eggs that were due to hatch. One had quit just as it was internally pipping for some reason, but the other was getting no where and just making its pip hole bigger. The membrane had started to dry so I helped it hatch and it too was still attached to its egg. It was exhausted as it must've been struggling for ages but the pip was under the egg where I hadn't seen it glancing in. I didn't think that poor baby was going to make it as it was knackered and breathing heavily. I put it in the brooder with the others just before bed as it had perked up enough to start chirping. I dubiously peeked in this morning and was very pleased to see it is still alive.

It's raining and was hot all night so we are in for another uncomfortable day. There are mushrooms popping up everywhere in the lawn because of the weather too.

Your dragon cake looks amazing! Did you have a cake mold or did you have to carve it out of regular cake (hope that makes sense)?

Good work on the hatch!

His body was a round cake chopped in half and stuck together. The tail and neck were cut from a round cake and his head I cut out of a square cake. Now we have a lot of cake to eat! I think I'll make some room in the fridge today because with our current weather conditions it won't be long before it starts growing green fuzz. :sick

Now I'm twice as impressed as you didn't have a dragon mold to shape him.

And speaking of mold...no green fuzz on my piece please

Good Morning Friends :hugs

Sipping on my Iced Coffee as I type.

Michelle I am pleased Mr Pig is showing signs of improvement.

Love the cake Jae :clap Good save on the button! I hope (s)he does well.

While the deck still needs work, I did manage to make it look a lot better with lots more room [moved a heap of stuff under the house].

Just sharing some pics .....

On Friday, picked up 'Hooty' for $10 from our local online Marketplace. He is now living in the under the house garden. I am going to try and find him a stump to sit on:

On the way in to town yesterday, we stopped off at a market place and picked up a $5 hanging basket plant [did not come with basket but in a small pot only half full with sand, so it needs some TLC]. The picture does not do it justice as it is hanging under the house and hard to catch in the right light but it is a beautiful purple and green; no idea what it is though:

When we popped in to the hardware to buy the basket for it, picked up this solar powered frog which was on special $12 down from $32. You can not see it very well, but he has his head in the jar and is try to catch a dragonfly within. The jar lights up at night and it is sitting near the top pond:

We have a couple of Yellow Breasted Sunbirds building a nest on a piece of string hanging under the house. Sunbirds are tiny and quick but they are building their nest in a great spot for me to catch some pictures of them [stay tuned] Oh, and excuse the mess in the background which is just a taste of what I am having to deal with:

Potted a cutting my neighbour gave me. Unfortunately it did not come with a great deal of roots so not sure how it will go. It has joined other plants at the fish ponds:

My neighbour also came good on the ground cover she promised me, so planted that. Love the colour!

Because my tree fern was in a corner under the house and getting too big [branches being bent by shade cloth and some being burnt by the sun where they had grown passed the shade], I moved it more central. Besides water saving and weed control, another reason I like to keep things in pots, they can be moved:

Remember Audrey whose arrival I was very excited about in October? Then:

Now [PS, you can see the clutter in the background here also]:

Plans for today .. typical Sunday, finish housework, load of washing, trip in to town for groceries and then home to give everything a good dose of water prior to our week of blah temperatures; starting today with a predicted max of 93F.

@Teila loved seeing all the gardening decor and how your yard work is paying off! Boy, Audrey sure has grown (be careful, lol).

I'm not 100% sure but your new purple plant in the hanging basket may be a Wandering Jew. You might have another name for them down under.

Looking forward to seeing the Yellow Breasted Sunbirds. What a cool nest they've been building!
