The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

It is not much of a double blind study though!

Often the CBT oil is made from hemp which seems to make it legal in most places.

It might be worth trying
Interesting. I believe it is still federally illegal to grow hemp presumably because it looks the same as the plant people grow for THC content. I wonder if the CBT oil people can buy (I know nothing about it) is imported from another country?

Interesting about hemp being restricted!

Farmers are starting to grow it in different states and a lot of hemp products are being sold now. You can get hemp seeds at costco

Must be I have old info! My understanding is that hemp is actually a great plant to grow. Doesn't need much "nutrition" or water and the fiber has many uses.

Found this from last November:
http://theleafonline.com/c/business/hemp/2017/11/us-hemp-cultivation-doubles-2017/

"Under a 2014 federal law, states may license hemp cultivation as part of a university sponsored pilot program. Thirty-two universities in nineteen states – Colorado, Hawaii, Indiana, Kentucky, Maine, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, and West Virginia – have participated in hemp cultivation projects this year, according to Vote Hemp.

Federal legislation is pending, House Bill 3530: The Industrial Hemp Farming Act of 2017, to exclude cannabis strains under 0.3 percent THC from the federal definition of marijuana under the Controlled Substances Act. In August, the National Conference on State Legislatures unanimously approved a policy position in support of amending federal law to reclassify hemp as a distinct agricultural crop and permitting states to engage in its commercial cultivation."

A local farmer was trying to get permission to grow Hemp here. The County denied the permit. It is odd because now Farmers can grow marijuana here under the new law recently passed.

Hemp is good for a lot of industrial purposes

I don't think so.
Waterhemp: Amaranthus tuberculatus, commonly known as roughfruit amaranth, rough-fruited water-hemp, or tall waterhemp, is a species of flowering plant.

Hemp: Hemp, or industrial hemp, typically found in the northern hemisphere, is a variety of the Cannabis sativa plant species that is grown specifically for the industrial uses of its derived products.

Is hemp the same as water hemp? We have that nasty stuff popping up in our fields around here.
Lots of hemp grows wild. The Army started planting it for the Civil War effort and it became native in some places.

More tax money in drugs than industrial products, wouldn't want to lose high THC acreage ;)

Not sure why they would turn down industrial hemp other than CA is (oddly) NOT one of the states with university linked research hemp growing. Maybe they are waiting for HR 3530 to pass. It is apparently not exactly fast tracked. Introduced July 28, 2017:
Latest Action: House - 09/06/2017 Referred to the Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism, Homeland Security, and Investigations.

The only reason I can think of to not make it legal is that it isn't possible to tell acres of hemp from acres of high THC marijuana. Probably figure it would be too easy for people to grow pot in their hemp fields, or just straight pot fields right out in the open.

know what that's like -

Same

Morning everyone!

@Blooie you might not see this until you're home but I'm sending you safe travel wishes anyway. Hope you can get some rest when you get back home.

@Teila wow, that's a whopping big storm! You stay safe too.

@KDOGG331 sounds like you had a great time, loved the dog photos.

Can't remember what else is going on, guess it's Monday :)

We definitely did! The kids had an Easter Egg hunt Saturday and it was so cute watching them run around. At first one of the little ones wasn't really into it at all but then when his brother started getting them all he got more into it :gig

And thanks, aren't those great!?

Good morning Debby and all. More snow coming today, can’t wait:barnie
My sister and her boys, boyfriend and his mom came out last night for homemade pizza. On the way out they met a van driving erratically etc. After they were here a little bit that same van showed up here. Hubby and son went out to see what he wanted. He was high on something and said he was looking for a lady...can't remember name and at that point he barely could. Not a local name we’ve ever heard. He was really checking out our yard. Son called it in after the guy left. I locked all the doors and windows on the house last night. I can’t remember the last time I did that.

OMG scary!!
