The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

You got a KFC close by you, Debby?? You holding out on me? Hmmm

There's one in Rawlins. Right close to my bank. And since I had to go to the bank today and since DH will be hungry when he gets home and since I have the afternoon off work...well, KFC happens (not often but maybe once every 3-4 months).

Loved hearing about the Knights Templar, Blooie, fascinating stuff! And to think your own Ken is part of that, wow!

Knights Templar are still around, Kelsey, just have been modernized for the last couple of centuries compared to the days of olde. Ken is a Templar. They do still have a very strong code of honor, the heirachy, the rituals, and most of the details of that are still closely guarded secrets that even those of us married to them aren’t permitted to know. But the fact that they exist, what they stand for and hold dear are public knowledge and a simple Google search gives information - some good, some bad, some accurate, some speculative, and some of it outright wrong. And now that I’ve told ya that, I’ll have to.......:gig

Debby, next time I’m down there we don’t waste one minute of the time we have....KFC, your house (or the club) and yak!!! Yeah, I’m really proud of Ken. And I don’t really mind walking into a room, having all the Knights stand, remove their hats and address me as Lady Diane. That and 50 cents will get ya.....well, this day and age, nothin’ I guess! :idunno

Ok, Lady Blooie, we have us a KFC date the next time you roll around this way!

Oh, I forgot to ask....any of you geniuses out there grow Canna Lilies? I want to try some this year. Are they easy to grow and maintain? I Googled it but they either make it sound like a rock could grow them or like you need to be a Master Gardner to try.

Not me, sorry. It would be nice if you did though, I'd like to know if that can be done here!

Blooie, I too am a knight. I just can't afford the dues...

I shall still refer to you - and think of you - as Sir RJohns, according you the respect you deserve! That you’re a bird owner and and of this illustrious group, however, is an added bonus for us!!

I should clarify, since I muddled it a bit, that in order to be invited into the Royal Order of Scotland, a Mason must first be either a member of the Scottish Rite or Knights Templar bodies. Ken is both. I kinda made it sound like a Templar automatically becomes a knight in the Royal Order, making me just as guilty of passing on erroneous information as Wikipedia! :lau Okay, I’ll shut up.

Wow this is all really interesting! Thanks!

I think the fact it's so secretive is what made me question it but that's part of what makes them them and what helps to make it so fascinating.

Aw thats too bad :( is it expensive?

You are a wealth of knowledge!

How do you get to be both?

And obviously the Knights aren't out fighting and crusading and stuff now so what do they do?

All this Templar talk is reminding me of an old joke my former MIL used to pop out with once in a while...

Once a King, always a King
But once a Knight is enough

Ok, I'm signing off for the night :lau See you all tomorrow!:frow

:lau I have a pin. It says “Lady of the Knight”. Nite, Debby!

:lau
