The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

I found 2 in West Tn, but its a long trip from VA.
when i first married and moved from florida to pa with my husband, i would go home once a year to visit momma and daddy , would call my old dentist and he would fit me in while i was there, anyone canceled he would call me to see if i could make it. for many years thats the way i did it til i found one that i could trust and wasn't afraid of. sometimes its worth it to go home

 Did you know i had a root canal done by a dentist when the tooth was infected? The novacaine doesn't work in that case...:rant

wow, you sure run into some bad dentist, hope you find a good one who knows what he or shes doing

I agree with @sharron, you may need another dentist. I have had root canals on two abscessed teeth. Novacaine worked, but my dentist is really slick at pain control. Sent me to an oral surgeon for an abscessed wisdom tooth - he may have been even better. Maybe part of it is that I do have a relatively high pain threshold. :idunno

Yeah, and when i was a teenager, the dentist chiseled the wisdom tooth out of my head instead of sending me to a dental surgeon. Over an hour being hammered on. I do not trust dentists! I couldn't eat for a week!
OK, I can see why you aren't too keen on going in. But I will pass on advice my grandmother gave me. Take care of your teeth you don't want dentures. ;)

I had that happen too! It was actually hard on the dentist. He sent me to an oral surgeon for the second one. I Do not have wisdom teeth in the upper jaw.

I have had them inject Novocain into the cavity. Worked very well too!

I can handle pain pretty well. Had 2 babies with no pain meds, and sewed myself up with a needle once. But there was no need for that dentist to keep drilling on an infected tooth. All he had to do was send me home with antibiotics and do it later. Why suffer needlessly? I never went back there.
Hubby didn't like the new dentist he tried here, so i am going to have to try an unknown dentist. Not good for my anxiety.
