The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

I had one that was really awful in the car, throwing up and even pooping sometimes. Once i took her on a really long car trip she got over it.

Oh wow that sounds miserable! Glad she eventually got over it though.

I am not sure exactly how bad Frank is but I figured with more exposure he should eventually get over it? And/or hopefully just grow out of it because he is still a pup. They are gone for the weekend so I am sure they will probably be making lots of short trips and hopefully on the way home he will be better.

Btw this is Libby's thing

https://www.emmysbarkinglot.com/training/

The weekender although I personally think they should've done the week one or a regular dog class lol but she didn't think a once a week hour class would be good for Libby because she supposedly takes like an hour just to settle down around the other dogs. Idk, I don't think that's true and even if it is, the exposure would be good for her lol but oh well. This one she'll get plenty of exposure too. But I am not sure if they will be going to the daycare or not. Probably not because they will be training with the trainer rather than playing? But idk. I do know the trainer and also FSIL thought Libby basically just needs like more exposure around dogs because she doesn't really see many and goes crazy (excited) when she does. Although I think Libby is staying an extra day because I guess they said for saturation issues they usually like to do 5 days instead of 4. But hopefully Libby will come back better behaved lol I think they sometimes take them to like the mall or dog friendly stores too.

IT isn't funny but, sadly being sedentary (while healing )can cause bone loss - making bones more likely to break.

First 5 years after menopause is the greatest loss of bone in women because declining estrogen.I consume enough calcium + vit.D for absorption but still kinda borderline
osteoporosis -osteopenia. Was on Fosamax for 11 years. barely made a difference, plus I was walking great distances with a weighted back pack, and working out with free weights (8-10lbs.) also. Didn't make a a difference. Had nice biceps tho.

My sister has been on Reclast (I believe that is a lengthy IV time, now she is on Prolia and gets shot 2 x a year. So far that isn't improving much either. She was always big boned. She has had fractures anyway. Her insurance covers Prolia but, she said it is very expensive.

I don't know if men can use the same products, it might be worth asking.

I've been taking Calcium, Magnesium, Zinc and Vit D3 for 10 years. Also other vitamins.
Having the first break was because of the blunt force trauma to the point of the femur node. (Look up a pic of what the femur looks like) The second was due to the bone being weakened by the 3 pencil size screws that were used to secure the ball of the femur to the neck of the femur. It broke at the point of the 3 screws. They were put in at an angle and in a cone shaped fashion up into the neck and into the ball. Weaking the bone.

Okay, this is huge for us! As most of you know, Kendra not only has SB, but she is also developmentally delayed, Autistic, and non- communicative. Today her dad brought her home from school and she headed for her room. Jenny wasn’t home from work yet, and Kenny was sitting on the couch. They keep a Sterilite drawer thingy in her room with her catheters and enema supplies. So Kenny heard her thumping (only way to describe what it sounds like when she crawls in her AFOs) down the hall to the living room. She pulled herself up, put an Enema kit in Kenny’s lap, and clearly said, “Enema, Mommy.” She knew what she needed, what it took to do it, who does it, and she ASKED for it!!! I can’t even tell you how full my heart is right now! (Pic just because it’s cute)
