The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Here's a couple of vids Bruce.
Thanks Sean!
I'm wondering about the evolution of all the colors in the regalia which obviously were originally all naturally occurring colors. I guess the Neon is kind of self explanatory and the colored spotlights change things, the feathers in the Chicken Dance look to be pretty much natural. So how/why did someone(s) decide to start coloring the feathers with pinks, purples, yellows etc?

I see your 2 videos and raise you the 2018 Gathering of Nations Pow Wow Grand Entry ;)
I'm curious that they are referring to themselves as North American Indians. I thought we were trying to get rid of that little misunderstanding on the part of Columbus 500 years ago as to where he landed and who the peoples were that he encountered.

Here's a couple of vids Bruce. The dancers are all performing the same steps but there is leeway in their presentation and style. 1st is competition between groups of dancers narrowing it down to one dancer from each group to go on to the next competition. Only one will be chosen to go to the final competition which will include the winner from each group. Like a dance off, for the recognition of champion dancer of the pow wow.
The second is a "chicken" dance. The dancers are interpreting the prairie chickens mating display dance. And their regalia is a representation of the prairie chicken.
You see alot better the dance steps that are required for the dance.

Fueling at the Flying J in Casper. (Hi, Debby!) You know, over 7 years ago Jenny and I drove to Denver to await Kendra’s birth and surgery. The interstate was under construction. We’ve made many trips to Denver since. And Ken and I have traveled to snd through Casper many times. The very same section of interstate has been under construction, and it still is today. Eventually they’ll have to finish and nobody driving through this section will know what to do.

Hi B :frow

Roadwork seems to take forever in WY...guess the weather causes long delays in projects.

I'm not in Casper at the moment. Since the guy that was going to take care of the animals landed in jail, we had to come back home early. Hope to get back up there maybe Thursday. DH and I are going to have to take our separate vehicles so we can switch working on the house and driving back for the critters easier. Can't seem to rely on anyone else.

Are you headed home now? You're going to have to re-introduce yourselves to your neighbors (the nice ones)...they've probably forgotten you live in Cowley!

We were home Sat and Sun. Left yesterday for meeting in Thermopolis, today we’re on our way to Lusk. Then we go from there to Sundance, followed the next day by his visit to Sheridan. Friday I have a recheck on my back, then Saturday we’re back in Sheridan for the day. Monday is Buffalo, then Douglas on Tuesday. I’m not sure I remember what home is!

Stinks about you having to split your time like that for the critters.

If you have a couple free minutes in Therm, give those hot springs a shot...might make your back feel a bit better!

I saw 3 deer and a flock of turkeys on my way back from the PO.
