The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Good morning, all.
@sharron, I agree everyone needs hugs, and I am among the best of huggers. :hugs :hugs :hugs Here are a few extra in case anyone needs one right now. What I really love is that my two teen aged grandsons still like to hug.

You'll be doing that for a long time. A deceased pet leaves a big hole in the home. @KDOGG331 , for me carbohydrates = inflammation.
Are you gluten intolerant?

@KDOGG331 , I do still eat sweet and regular potatoes, even pasta - just not as frequently and maybe one third portion of what I usually eat. Do I cheat ? Heck yeah, but try to limit that to some special baked pastry infrequently. The Princess insists on buying sugar iced jelly donuts - we will split one. I have been bad through the holidays and am paying the price right now.

SMH ha!! Add to that major depression, anxiety disorders, severe social phobia, can't remember what else.
Didn't get better over night - took years. But the first victory propels to the next. I even got over my fear of elevators. That was funny. I was in the waiting room first floor when a man asked me if there was a stairway to whatever floor. I told him I didn't know where it was but, I would be happy to take him up in the elevator. We talked a bit and I told him how crushing my fear of elevators had been- especially if there was a man alone in them.
I hope he felt reassured that he would get over it also.

BTW NO I wasn't ever attacked in an elevator. Just familiar with some of the worst deeds of men since I was a very young child. Plus it's a lot easier to be cool and calm over the internet. :thumbsup
My claustrophobia cause me to fear elevators too. When I was an interior horticulturist in Baton Rouge was required to push an 80# water machine around fancy hi-rise buildings all over town. So in a big law firm with several floors to service I'm in the 'vator with one of the full partners (nice lady) and it stops and goes dark!! I developed spontaneous Tourette's and start spewing obscenities at the top of my lungs! Power comes back on,lights go up and I'm making full eye contact with her...instantly start apologizing for my outburst. She said,'if you hadn't said it I would have! ' Door opens, closes, lights go off again! Door opens off I get and down the stairs with my 80# water machine hollering 'look out below'

That is good to know you can still eat sweet potatoes! Because I think I would go crazy without them. I mean, I don’t eat them very often anyway, but I love them and plus they have so many good nutrients. And I think everybody goes a little crazy with food around the holidays!! I am trying to start working out and eating better. I have worked out twice so far and went for a long walk Sunday. I have not worked out yet this week. I was trying to give myself a break because I was still pretty sore but now I think I have had too long of a break, do not want to get in the habit of not working out lol, so I think I may work out now. I did fill some gallon milk jugs with water and do some “weights” yesterday though. :lau I had to fill the chicken’s water so figured I might as well get some arm exercise in at least since I hadn’t done any other exercise that day :lau

On the subject of 'diets' DH's friend has always had digestive issues as has his brother. His brother recently discovered why. They are allergic to the natural pesticides produced by plants. So they now eat meat, eggs and dairy and have never felt better.

Wow that is odd!! I have never heard of someone being allergic to plants!! That is awesome they are feeling better though!! I have heard the regular pesticides they put on stuff can cause a lot of problems so a lot of people eat organic and/or non GMO which seems to help but never heard of being allergic to the actual plant, just stuff sprayed on the plant. But it is possible of course. Do you guys use Round Up/glyphosate there? It is still legal here but I hear it is banned in a lot of countries.

Best story I've heard today Becca :gig (Although, I'm sure not funny to you at the time.)

Hey Kdog, thi is what is referred to as plants that produce pesticides. When I was studying Agronomy in the early 80s it was considered a huge breakthrough in safe pesticides. It causes the catapillars stomach to rupture. Apparently it causes the same in humans too. :(
