I assume there is glass or plexi covering the big hole, a way to see how much is in it?

I started to put him down but that was when I broke my leg the second time, so I was in no shape to try and catch him, so he lives.

Birth certificates expire? I know hubby had to go get a copy of his real birth certificate from the courthouse when he renewed his drivers license as he has a CDL. The ones they give you at the hospital are just a keepsake.
