The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

I wasn't really happy that they're placing them so young, but they opted not to keep them with the dam, and wont hold her past next weekend. If I want her I have to get her when they say. I'm just happy to get a pup.
Do what you gotta do, those pups will be placed too early whether it is the right thing to do or not. Wish the breeder was more responsible.

I tube fed puppies from some litters and never schooled them about biting, they never did . Did have one girl that was fierce about her food bowl - never tried to bite humans.
Actually never bit other pups either. But she would carry on growling at the others and while she had her mouth away from the dish - some other pup would eat it.

Every pup had it's own dish - spaced apart. :idunno

Huh, that’s interesting. I think it definitely depends on the personality of the pup too. I have seen some articles be like they will definitely bite harder or be fearful and have all these behavior issues from being taken away too soon and while that might be true for some, I don’t think it is true for all dogs/puppies. I think a lot depends on the personality of the dogs and well bred dogs shouldn’t be aggressive or fearful anyways no matter when they were separated. Clearly your dogs had good personalities and were well bred.

And wow what a feisty one lol

Happy to be able to report the tornado narrowly missed us. It hit pretty hard right down the road though. Lots of emergency personnel and copters just east of us, going down our road, one after the other. News reporter speaking about 2 fatalities, but no body counts yet.

Phew for you, but sad that there were fatalities. Sounds like a nasty one.

I got a photo of our little ball of fuzz (with a bald head). The other egg is pipping too. By about a week old we'll start to see where they'll have dark patches.

Being hand reared the parents love interacting with us so whoever is sitting on the nest when we go in to visit can't resist hopping out to see us for a little while. Except our other hen, Dottie, keeps trying to take over and steal the eggs and chick! I know if I put a nest box in there she and her mate would be in like a shot but we are far too close to moving day! They'll just have to wait.

It sounds like autumn will be warm and dry so they've got a bit of time. Australia has had another heat wave (which resulted in huge bushfires) and that's supposed to be tracking our way next week. It's been lovely and cool at night here with pleasantly warm days. I've had enough of the heat.

Whew, that was close then! Glad to hear you & yours are ok Becca.

Growing up in Kansas I saw way too much of those ugly storms. When I was moving to FL people would ask me if I was scared of hurricanes...heck no! I'll take a hurricane over a tornado any day.
