That’s what I was using. I was using warm, almost hot, water cause the directions said too but it still didn’t absorb very much or fast so I tried adding some more once some of it absorbed a little bit, haven’t checked since, but it was starting to make progress. Maybe peat moss just holds a lot of water? Haven’t tried the soap thing yet cause it looked like it was making progress.

I usually give them a night to soak.

Hi Debby! I lasted 3 days. Shortest job I ever had! It was not for me. I could not help them at all. I know it would not have gotten better. I did not care for lunch time either where eveybody bashed everyone else. So, back to cleaning for now.
We went out for supper last night. My youngest has a new girlfriend (it’s taken him about 3 months to call her that)She is cute and just a bitty thing and very quiet. She is not local so not sure how often they’ll see each other. Last night was the first time we met her.

Had a blast today. Didn’t see much wildlife - snow was still pretty deep up there, but closer to Cody we did see a buffalo and some Big Horn Sheep ewe groups. We didn’t let Fee off the leash when we got her out - just don’t quite trust her recall 100% yet. In the yard, the house, and the kennel she’s perfect every time. But this was her first real outing, and everything fascinated her, from the elk poop to the sheep. In fact, she couldn’t take her eyes off the sheep, continuing to stare at them out of the side window when we started to drive off and then whipping around to watch them from the rear window until they were out of sight. If we’d let her off the leash, she might have just forgotten her manners in all the excitement of the new sights, smells and sounds, and being a sight hound, she’s fast! I’d have hated to have her take off and get into trouble at the river or get lost in the forest. She got to get an icy cold drink from the Shoshone River, though, and loved the rushing water. Pics tomorrow, as soon as I get them from my camera to the phone. Scenery was stunning!

Can't wait for those photos @Blooie - sounds like an awesome day. Your cattle parade reminded me of the sheep down country - the farmers use the roads to move them (as often a farm is on both sides of the road) so it's always a novelty for tourists to have to stop and wait for the mob of sheep to go past their car. The cattle look very relaxed about it all.

We gave the cockatiels plain popcorn for the first time today. Hawkmoth loved it and Chilly thought she would share with him. Boy was he wrong!

She harassed him until he flew off - she was not sharing!

Their older baby is 3 weeks old today. S/he celebrated by nibbling on a cornflake. S/he's still too little to break a bit off though, but we'll have to give them a sprig of millet to start exploring.


The younger one is just starting to show the pretty pearl pattern on its wings.

It’s always so much fun to watch your birdie babies grow! The changes are so dramatic!

kdogg, I used to start seeds in individual jiffy pellets. I'd line up flattened pellets and pour boiling water over them. They plump up fast. When they cool down I'd put seeds in the middle or seedling.

They would get lined up in hard plastic trays and covered with clear domes with vents-that I would open or close depending on how humid I wanted them to be. Then they'd go under plant lights - on ten hours a day.

Used to have a great supplier, John Cook of Cape Cod Violetry. Sadly he passed away last year ,I believe.
