The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Hello everybody! It's your absent friend here. I'm limited to the data I get on my cell phone plan so I can't visit much, plus life has been busy working out this caravanning thing (and figuring out where I put everything - I still can't find some stuff which is kind of ridiculous in such a small space).

Every 2 days we have to empty the toilet cassette which means a trip to one of the local beaches where there is a dump station by the public toilet. It's a beautiful beach and the kids love having a swim. It's such a treat to be able to walk barefoot along it too. We have collected many beautiful shells and even found a couple of quartz rocks.

Our baby cockatiels are gorgeous and Dawn continues to be confident and cheeky. Dusk takes a minute to warm up but is getting more confident.

Dawn loves preening our hair. They all love my jacket too - zippers are great for chewing.

And here's Dusk hanging out with Mum.

We've been battling wasps recently. DH has gone to get more wasp spray. He's already sprayed 10 paper wasp nests and found a German wasp nest in the ground which will need a powder to kill it. Introduced wasps are a huge problem here and it's estimated that the weight of wasps in NZ exceeds that of all our native animals put together.

Let me know if I've missed anything important and link me in if there's anything I should know.
Hi Jae, awesome pictures!

Whew, so much to catch up on today :D

Hey Ladybug! How are you doing this morning? We had a big storm roll through early this morning, woke me up and I had to lay back down for a couple hours. Tornado watch in the area all day! Looks like we got the storm from Sean's neck o the woods.

You guys are going to worry me all summer with these storms. I don't think I ever recovered from going through so many of them in KS.

So, maybe I missed something but I was just wondering whatever happened to your bosses friend that was looking to work there?

Boss' friend will work when her schedule allows  That works out to about 10 days in May, another 8-10 or so in June and then a couple days in August. Gotta work around that vacation schedule you know!

Afternoon everyone! :frow

Becca, Bob and everyone else in the storms path, be safe and keep a 'weathered eye' to the horizon. This storm was very unpredictable here in Texas....but that's nothing new for storms here anyway! It urged to put down a tornado in every county it passed through....and did in Franklin and Spring...EF3

Glad you made it through ok Sean!

Yeah, it's a super huge low, that's for sure...was pretty unpredictable here as well. After it passed, we got 40 mph wrap around winds here...some gusts alot higher.
Nice and sunny with a slight breeze today.

Now you know what wind around here is like most days :gig

Hi Sharron, hope life is treating you well :frow

HI JAE!!! So glad to hear from you and get the latest on how things are going. Wow, your little fuzzy babies are big kids already! The pictures were great, you guys must be loving the beach. You take care and come see us when you can. :hugs

DH just walked in, time to have dinner. I'm going to sleep good tonight, it's been a long day of cleaning stainless Ugh, I'd never want that in my house.

I’m glad I only have chickens.
I've wanted cassowaries but they are extremely expensive and dangerous birds. I think they are stunning birds though.

Missed you Jae, glad its getting sorted out.

Hi Jae, it's not hard to lose things when you have 10lbs. of stuff in a 5lb. box! :lau
Wow, Dusk and Dawn have really 'grown up' from your last post. Beautiful birds. :love

Ugh, wasps...I hate them and bees too! I'm so allergic to the ones we have here, let alone the ones y'all have...probably would kill me if they stung me.
Don't be a stranger...miss your pics and stories! :D
X2 Not allergic but don't care for them. currently working on killing off carpenter bees.

The temp is dropping like a rock and the barometer is rising. So I guess all is good.

KD same storm Sean and I were talking about. Looks to be right on top of you but moving out to sea. Stay safe.

It’s definitely a scary one for sure! I can see why you guys were concerned! Although we don’t have the tornadoes I don’t think. But yeah, it was directly over our house for a few minutes, think something got struck but we can’t see what, couple HUGE booms, one of which was a boom and flash at the same time which is when my dad thinks something got struck, or knows, saw it, but now I think the worst of it is over. Or hopefully. :fl Haven’t heard any more yet. I hope it does move on. And thank you!!! How did you fare in the storm?

Also, my dad said when the strike happened, the cat jumped straight in the air several feet then took off out of the room :lau she was on his bed, looking out the window, or maybe asleep next to it, and she heard that BOOM all of a sudden out of nowhere and was GONE. :lau :hide

Though tbh it scared and surprised all of us lol
