And here I thought it was the 1980's hairstyle you would have admired :lau

We do have tea (tons and tons of various teas) but sniff, sniff, I want coffee in the morning. Can anyone put together an emergency air drop for me?

Um, I think the airports down thataway are also shut down. Wanna see a pic of my yard today? Hehehe

The post office just called and the chicks are here!! :celebrate:wee:celebrate

Yayyyy! Be sure to tuck them under MHP and let them figure out where to get warm. Let them settle for a day or so before you mess with them too much - a lot of handling, added to shipping, can really stress them out!

Yeah, it is really hard not to hold them and touch them but I am trying not to. I just picked a couple of them up when so first opened the box and held them a bit before putting them back and then I moved them to the brooder and showed them all where everything was and that was really it. They all took to the food right away except the leghorn but she figured it out. I was a little worried about her as she seems pretty tired and weak but she is eating and drinking once I made a concerted effort to really show her (the others just dove right in) and I tucked her way under the pad and also put like a drop or two of nutridrench directly on her beak and a tiny bit in the water for all of them and made sure they all drank some so hopefully she will be okay. I think she is just a little bit chilled. She is so small.

Although last time they were here early morning I thought but I guess every shipment is different.
Yep. I've had them delivered to the PO early in the morning and picked them up before the PO opened. The clerks call as soon as they get in and hear the chicks, they REALLY don't want to listen to unhappy chicks peeping non stop for hours on end. Plus, if they understand what is in the box and how fragile they are, they want you to get them to their new home ASAP. And I've had them delivered right to the house later in the day when they didn't make the early morning plane so miss the truck to the PO.

One lady used to have them and was so excited and one was just fascinated lol
Some people don't realize what all the PO ships. DW has taken in live birds (not day olds) and tropical fish for shipment elsewhere. And duck wing tips in their special envelopes, some sort of requirement from the state fish and game. And rocks that went to Scotland. Don't know why, you would think they would have plenty of their own ;)

Yeah, they called immediately but I didn’t get there for about half hour, 40 mins, as I was with the dogs then had to change but they were very loud and I am sure happy to be rid of them LOL although there was still another box there. 3 came in at the same time. Hope the other people picked there’s up soon after I did.

I never understood how birds and fish could ship well but I guess they must pack them very well. Seems adult birds would be way more stressed out though.

These people just heard them peeping their little heads off on my way out and the one woman got so excited so I started talking to her and then another woman came out so she kind of joined in the conversation too. She was like where do they all go? The other woman was like to her house :lau then I explained about how I had a coop in my backyard and a brooder in the house. Not sure she understood any of what I was saying but I tried to say explain it as I said it i.e a brooder with heat and water and food inside so the definition is in the explanation lol she seemed fascinated. I always love talking chickens. She was amazed when I said they go to my house :lau and wow those must have been some special rocks!!! LOL

They are soooo quiet now that they are warm and full. It is so cute. :love not a single peep and all sound asleep under “mama” lol :love

But they were peeping up a storm earlier. Amazing how LOUD they can be for how TINY they are and considering they just hatched yesterday!! But at least we know their lungs definitely work. :lau

Also I keep getting them and the song birds confused :lau I keep thinking they are peeping again but NOPE. Although one did because she came out to eat and couldn’t find her way back under MHP  she was just standing in the middle of the brooder, right in front of it, yelling her head off LOL great set of lungs on that one. She might be trouble. :lau
