The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

We ended up with one the first time I tried hatching eggs in an incubator. They were shipped eggs and the egg he came out of was clearly marked Black Australorp (or however that’s spelled). We named him SLUF - for Silly Looking Ugly F......art. What did you think I was going to say? ........... LOL...I had a mixed one, looked to have some Silkie, she was small. I called her Uggums. She was so ugly as a baby, she was cute? No! :D. Here she is after getting wet. Her top went into a mohawk on its own. It was real fluffy when dry. Loved that silly looking girl. Her skin was black. Like a Showgirls. You can barely see the Bate neck. I love NN'S with bow ties. 20170325_181009.jpg

mil taught me starting in 1970, she always canned and froze veggies and fruits to save money, not to mention that they tasted better than anything she could buy at the store, she even canned meat, beef, pork and chicken when pap got out of the service after the war, they didn't have much money, pap worked three jobs so they could buy this place so needless to say, it also saved money in those days
its a good thing to know, just in case something happens and you can't afford to buy at the store, if you have canned from your garden, you won't go hungry
ok, going to take a shower and hit the hay, 5 am comes early night:frow

That is a very good point! Never really thought of it like that before but that is so true. And it is also delicious. I think I am going to start canning. I really want to make bread & butter pickles. I love those. :love

The basil came from the garden too.

Btw when I was collecting it I saw this little dude on the pepper plant next to it. Hope the pictures came out okay. Couldn’t really see what I was taking cause it was dark haha plus didn’t want to move the leaves around too much or bring the phone too close and scare him.

Any idea what kind it is though?

There is also a frog residing in our front pond. I’m glad the little guys want to hang out. They eat mosquitoes right?

I just swatted that fly!! :lau
I thought it was on the screen.

:lau

All the talk about golf tournaments reminds me of the time DH was invited to play golf with a bunch of his doctor buddies. I mean that's what doctors do after all, well, except for my Doctor Honey husband that is who has never been a fan of the sport.. Still he graciously accepted and showed up at the country club on his motorcycle, his one and only golf club with an adjustable face, 1 tee and a golf ball. He said after a while he had to borrow another tee and another golf ball as he lost his.

Eventually they stopped inviting him.

Good story M!

Aww, I miss seeing frogs. Saw plenty in Florida. Toads, frogs, snakes, turtles, fireflies, bass shrimp...:D

Awesome! I think we have all of those here too although not as many snakes. But have seen a couple. But we usually get tons of frogs in our pond in the spring, the peepers, but never seen them there this late and never on any of my plants. Been a wet year though so maybe they’re thriving haha

I love watching the turtles when we go somewhere with a pond haha ours isn’t big enough.

Love the fireflies. They’re so cool.

Don’t know if we have bass shrimp. We do have crawfish I think.

I can't find cucumbers! :tongue

Aw wish I could mail you some haha
