The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

We have 2 kids with allergies. One to blue dye the other to peanuts. Both get rashes so not as bad as having to use an epi pen. The kid with the blue dye allergy is super picky and obsessive compulsive.
The year has been a nightmare. It is still to wet. I hope next year is better.

I'm hoping the next year is better for you guys too :fl

Good morning everyone!

I was looking forward to sleeping late this morning (day off). Then DH rolled over on the tv remote and suddenly we had some old '60s tv show blasting away at 1:30am.

I'm going to need a nap. Hope the rest of you have a calmer start to your day

@sharron glad to hear from you. Not too glad to hear you're still feeling puny. Take care and get better soonest!

I'm ready for sure...it's been a very long summer.

Of course, I'll be broke all winter too but there is plenty to be said for having the time off. One of my regulars was teasing me yesterday...he asked me, "do you know what happens 6 months from today? You get to re-open!" Argh, and it will happen just about that fast

What would you do if you didn't go back? Or maybe I should ask, what would you rather do?

That's a hard question. If we stay around here, there isn't much for me to do. But if/when we move, it has to be some where I can have a garden again and let my chickens run around more and get some ducks. As for a job, eh, whatever. :D

That sounds like a good plan! What kind of ducks do you want?

When we had our little farm in FL, my humongous duck habitat was almost complete and I had put in an order for 10 ducklings (2 each of 5 breeds) with a hatchery. About broke my heart to have to cancel that order when DH got the job up here.

So maybe I'd go ahead with that, I've never had ducks and was excited about seeing different ones. Just have to see where we end up and how much space we have.

I hope you find a place where you can do everything you want NFC. I thought about runners or Muscovy but think I'm going to get a couple of bunnies instead. They make great poop for the garden and would be a better use of my space here.

Bunnies are adorable. :lau

And definitely excellent fertilizer!! You can put it on hot too, no waiting, which is nice!

I love ducks. I want them too but my dad doesn’t like them for whatever reason. I think I might get them anyway though. :lau

Although I want quail and more chickens first so idk.

Ducks are also very messy and kind of gross sometimes which I’m not a huge fan of but they are so adorable. :love

I imagine it’s just like having a bunch of messy toddler boys :lau

If I got them I think I’d try Swedish and Welsh Harlequin as well as possibly Buff, Rouen, Runners and/or the super layers.
