The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Just came in from shoveling out the chicken's run so they'll come out of the coop. It's still snowing & blowing though so they better enjoy getting out while they can.

I was going to take my camera but seeing's how it's 17* out, all I wanted to do was dash out and back right back in.
I hope that doesn’t come our way.
I feel it's my duty to inform all of you as to the state of our weather (feel free to skip ahead)

It's now 14* and is supposed to drop to -7* tonight. And it's still snowing.

At this rate, I may have to send out an SOS for a dog sled team to evacuate.

The drifts between the house and the chicken coop are up to my knees. I'd cry, but then my face would probably ice over.
Oh my gosh Debby!! It’s only October. That’s going to make for a very long winter if it sticks around.

Brrrr. I guess I'm happy here in Texas.

It is always kind of sad to see the tail end of a garden. But now you can start planning on next years!

I'm fine, just woke up way too early. I think I'm like all the new chicken owners...I get to worrying about my birds when it's this cold. I know they'll be fine, but I still wonder and have to keep checking on them. It's a lot more work to have a flock in Wyoming than it was in FL (at least for me)!

yes it is,sad, i had cucumbers coming on but i did get a few before the frost but never enough, i love home grown cucumbers, store bought just aren't the same, taste wise but husband fenced in the garden with hog panels and the piggies are loving it, they get whatever they can forage plus it helps us get the garden ready for winter
my chickens are getting used to the cooler weather, or at least i hope they are, i had a little frizzle hen that last winter got plucked naked by the other chickens she was in with at friends and its taken all summer for her to get her feathers back, shes so pretty now, going to tell friend to maybe keep her separate from the others this winter
going to go to the auction today of course, its time for husband to get up, have to throw the dogs out, then feed everything and of course its still dark (did i mention i hate winter, i love the early morning light)
