I made it to my eye exam appointment but there were cars and trucks spun off the road and highway the whole way here. Flashing red and blue lights everywhere.
That's the problem with non-winter winters in the NE. People forget to SLOW DOWN when winter actually makes an appearance.

yes, doesn't matter how much snow or ice on the roads, still some idiot has to pass you, they must think the roads are dry

Morning coffee is a must in the morning. The snow looks so pretty -but it needs to not stay here the bamboo branches are bent over touching the driveway because of all the rain and then snow ❄

I overslept big time today. Last night was restless, interrupted sleep for some reason. All be careful when traveling today. @rjohns39 there's a stand of bamboo along one of the rural roads here that tries to block the road every time it snows or ices up. People keep it 'trimmed' by driving through it.

Intermittent rain, wind, rising temperatures and then to drop into the 20's tonight. Not bad compared to what others are dealing with.

We're getting snow (surprise! not). So far the wind is holding off, which is a blessing.

& yup! Such a huge difference. It's supposed to drop to about -12c next week, but that's still a very tolerable temp.

It's definitely been a crazy one! I thought I saw a lot of snow growing up in Kansas, but this winter sure has beat anything we had there. I clearly remember my last winter living in KS, shoveling the driveway and swearing to myself I'd never have to do that again (I was on my way to living in FL). Boy, was I wrong!

We're up about 2" so far this morning and it predicted to last until around 9pm tonight. But, if the wind picks up Nebraska might get some of that.

I have a ton of experience driving on snow and ice, my best advice to anyone is not to if you can avoid it, if you have to go slow and remember 4WD doesn't do a thing for you going downhill on ice.

Exactly! I crawl down the hill in the truck with nimrods on my bumper trying to push me. I'm sure THEY are thinking that I should be going faster because I'm in a truck.

It's always nerve-wracking to see road accidents like that. Dobie, will you be able to stay home now?

The plan is to stay home but that obviously doesn't get me out of shoveling. And DH didn't bring any wood in yesterday so I need to fill the stacks.

I'm not home yet! There was almost 3 inches of snow on the truck when I left my eye appointment. I was in there about 2 hours. I'm sitting in the truck waiting for it to defrost now.
