The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Evening everyone... its been a roller coaster here and I have only been responding to about three threads. This one is too active for me to keep up. Sorry NFC.

Update:

Hired a handyman/contractor. Demolition on kitchen starts this week. Hes going to build my pantry as well. Going to go with Vinyl laminate click planks looks like hickory, this type does not need an underlay... Only a firm floor either plywood or Concrete. This one is Pet proof and can be used in high moisture areas... So mopping is good.

I was going to clean up the Rat detritus myself but am still very unable to walk about. So the original quote for demo is going to be added to for mitigation.

My Garden tractor has sat out front since I bought it. After I bought it I found out I had cancer and I just lost interest. So three years now it has never been run. I called John Deere and they sent a technician out to run it through and get it started. Took him about thirty minutes to change the oil drain the fuel and put new fuel in. He didnt even have to clean the carburetor. It fired right up. Now its hitched to the Truck which had its run through about a month ago. So all is ready to drop the tractor and trailer off at home.

I am going to bring the horse trailer up to this house and start unloading the Garage. All plastic totes. Probably will all fit in the Horse trailer. Bringing it home to drop off. All that stuff has been in totes for ever I wont go through them till I get them home. I have a dumpster there now so I can purge.

Hopefully the rest of my stuff will fit on a moving truck about sixteen feet long. I want to have the movers move my Refrigerator and freezer and all my big stuff in the garage.

Looks like the final move in date will be sometime around May or June.

Oh and the hand me down furniture ends with this. Not going crazy but just buying what I need and of good quality. Area carpets as well.

Oh and California is on lockdown for another Virus... Virulant Newcastle Disease I wanted to order chicks even though San Diego isnt part of that lock down. All orders have to go through the Postoffice in Los Angeles which is in the lock down area.

At this point the only way to get chicks through the mail is to have them delivered to Yuma AZ and drive the two hours to pick them up. So we will see.

The other option is to get hatching eggs which I can do. Muscovy Ducks and such.

Hey everyone - hope you are all staying healthy. Our internet is being very patchy at the moment which is frustrating. It keeps freezing up on me, even as I try to type.

Clothing has now been deemed to be an essential item here (though the types of clothing available is limited). Except at one retailer where you can get kids underwear, you can get mens underwear, but NOT women's underwear. I have written to them asking how that is fair, but I'm not holding my breath about getting a reply. I desperately need a bra because the underwire decided to pop out of one pair of mine and I only have two. So I spent ages yesterday searching for somewhere that actually had my size (not an easy thing). Pretty much all you can buy are sports bras or a basic maternity bra. Very boring! I'm just hoping they won't be out of stock by the time they process my order.

Our health minister here decided to take himself and his family on a long drive to then have a walk on the beach. The government has instructed everyone to 'stay local' when getting exercise. Last week he got grilled for going mountain biking quite a distance from his home. Honestly, what an idiot! He has been demoted but hasn't lost his job. The Prime Minister thought it would be too disruptive at a time like this. Quite honestly the public doesn't care who gives them the information, as long as somebody does.

We are back to 'normal' (non daylight savings) time which suits me just fine. The kids never adjust so I prefer this sort of time as it feels like they are going to bed earlier.

Hi Jae, good to hear from you and catch up on your news! Hope the clothing thing gets sorted out soon...if it doesn't, maybe clothing isn't "essential" after all
